>> QUALITY <<:
The wood used to make the speakers is really thick, and well put together. Instead of using cheap glue or nails, each panel actually slots together, making a really drum tight product that will last over time. A really smooth design too, making it easy to clean!
At the back there are inputs for outdoor antennas in case you want to upgrade, bear in mind these are industry standard 75Ohm impedance sockets. Also there are no XLR outputs, only 2 Phono sockets.
Sound is above what I would expect for this little machine – the speaker cone design and box help make sounds warmer, and bass deeper. Since there is no bass control function on this, they give you exactly what they should: Full power the whole time. For your banging dance cd’s. Frequency response isn’t too bad either. 45MHz – 19 000MHz in fact and is what I would expect for something this big.
Kenwood have really tried here and put a lot of thought into the features of this. You’ve got your bog standard remote with few features on, but the front face is littered in them, and all are labelled.
One very clever little trick this hi-fi has, is a personalised greeting when you load it. First power on, it says “Kenwood” changes to “Hello” and when you turn the unit off, you get “Goodbye” “TIME/DATE HERE” Which is a very handy little feature that I would only expect on higher priced units.
One problem I found was that after I Had set the clock and date, I unplugged the system so it could go back in the box – when it came out again it had lost its memory and reset itself. So my suggestion anyways is leave it on standby – for a good reason!
>>EASE OF USE <<:
You might need a little bit of time to work out the functions, and EQ’s but aside from that, this is another one of those Switch on, and that’s it systems.
Remote control has a very strange design, and isn’t very practical. Most remotes take AA’s whereas this takes AAA’s, and has one of the most uncomfortable solid plastic backing ive seen. This system is very quiet when running, occasional whirs can be heard on start-up, and when you have just had it on nearly full volume, but apart from that, it’s a sound machine. Good stuff.

For the price range, this is great. Fantastic quality for money, with a sound quality that I would never expect from Kenwood. They have gone all out on this one, and a fantastic machine it is.
