Advantages: Customer Service Website very helpful. Disadvantages: I am now addicted to baking!
...I had coveted the thought of a food mixer for ages but could not justify, to myself, the cost.
However, my breadmaker finally bit the dust and it was really annoying anyway to have the hole in the base of the loaf due to the beater in the pan. I only ever let it do the hard work of kneading, letting it rise in a loaf tin and baking the bread in the oven. Rather defeats the point of a breadmaker!
So to make bread, cakes, etc., I decided to kill two birds with one stone and plumped for this extremely nice looking, retro-style Kenwood Patissier Mixer. I chose the cream to go with my new kitchen but, you can get it in red as well. Best of all, I could not believe the price! Much cheaper than I imagined.
Isn't it great treating oneself? There it sits on the worktop looking stylishly important!
It comes with a large (4 litre) stainless...

...I was given my first Kenwood breadmachine as a Christmas present which malfunctioned and ceased to work within a week. The replacement machine worked well and produced excellent results for six weeks when I noticed that the bread pan kept releasing itself during the kneading cycle. On inspection I saw that the pan had warped causing this problem to happen. I have since found out that this is a common problem with this machine so I would not consider buying another Kenwood until I am totally confident that this problem has been accepted and resolved by the mainufacturers.
I have bought many Kenwood items in the past and always found them to be durable and reliable but this problem has resulted in my losing confidence in them....

Advantages: Quick boil, easy to lift because of the traditional shape. Disadvantages: Lid could easier to open .
...I purchased this Kenwood SK996 approximately about three
months ago because our Russell Hobbs Montana was leaking
at the base.
We went back to a classical shape which is easier to lift when
full.
The Kenwood is much quieter when bringing to the boil than the Russell Hobbs Montana.
The lid could be easier to remove but it has a good knob to grip
hold of with your hand round the handle.
I found the clear duel windows easy to read the amount of water in the kettle.
I live in a hard water area but the inside seems to be keeping
fairly lime free so far.
The washable filter is smooth to remove and easy to clean.
I would reccomend to my friends that they purchase the Kenwood SS996....
