Playback of DVD's is as easy as putting it in the machine, a supplied remote control allows useage if sat in the rear of the vehicle. Sound is crisp and clear as is the picture resolution. If the optional rear screens are installed then the user can set up zones, this means that the passengers in the rear can watch the DVD or TV* *optional receiver required whilst the driver can listen to the radio. or the navigation directions.
The Radio is easy to set up with options for auto search or manual allocation of stations, the toggle switch allows you to have the radio screen in full mode/ split screen or off. Traffic reports can be received by selecting the function if required and the unit remembers the volume setting from the last time it received a traffic report. For stations that transmit text there is also an option for this to be displayed as a rolling message along the base of the screen. When in full mode voice guidence only is given with no mapping screen. Unfortunatly the unit will not increase volume with speed of vehicle as some OEM units do.
The Navigaiton unit is supplied by Garmin and attaches to the main unit to be controlled by the touch screen or remote control. The unit itself is designed to be hidden away, however access is required to update the mapping and operation software by use of an SD card. The unit will also allow user POI to be installed such as speed camera locations and this unit will then warn when near to the POI if required. Mapping is for the whole of Europe and comes pre loaded, no discs to get scratched or lost. Finding the address can be done for postcode, road name, city search and even road intersection. Once the address is selected the driver can choose fastest/shortest or off road calculation or have this pre set. Type of vehicle can also be selected: Car, Bike, Lorry, Bus, Emergency Vehicle ect. With the Text to Speach voice selected the unit will speak the names of the roads and destinations to you and will even attempt to speak your own names for favorite locations too. Directions give are clear and in good time, if you miss the turn the unit automatically re-routes for you. The only feature not avaiable is warnings for toll roads or congestion charges.. the unit only has the setting for avoid or do not avoid.
The AUX feature allows for a rear view camera to be fitted and the unit will show the image when reversing. or you can install a playstation and use the screen in the vehicle.
