*What is it? The Kenwood SB 307 Smoothie pro is a liquidizer with special extra functions to make smoothie drink making extra special. Its 2 litre jug means you can make enough to share or to save for later - especially great for soups to freeze. Size: 49.5H x 23.5W x 23D cm Weight: 5.04kg
*How does it work? Well, it's amazingly simple. For a fab smoothie choose the fruit you want in your recipe; take off the top lid; tip in your fruit and add sufficient milk / juice / alcohol.... whatever liquid you've decided on; replace the lid and switch on. There are handy measuring lines on the jug so that if you're brave enough to make up your recipe you can get the solid : liquid ratio right.
*What settings do I have?
Firstly there is a well labelled pulse button on one side of the front tap. This works only when held down and is a hard working spin ideal for crushing ice or frozen ingredients.
Next you can depress the mix button which can click to stay on until you press stop. This is a speedy function designed to ..... wait for it.... mix! In some cases this is sufficient but if you have loads of fruit you may well go the extra mile and use:
The Smooth button. This really is the top whizzer and makes swift work of whirring a deliciously smooth, frothy mix.
*What's the stick for? The lid has a handle sticking out which has a stirring stick beneath. You can use this to jostle the contents of the jug to make sure it is evenly distributed. In the past this has been an important item in my smoothie maker but this model is so efficient it becomes more of a fun way of joining in!! You can of course also take out the stick leaving a small hole in the lid through which you can add extra liquid as its mixing. Careful not to do this on high speed though or you will inadvertently re-paint your kitchen.*Drinks on tap.. Now you've got to admit that the most exciting part of a smoothie maker is the fact that you can use the tap just like pulling a pint - this tap is rally easy to use (unlike some I've had which have not flowed well.) The plug stopper is tight so no dripping between glasses and the way the machine is shaped means that the tap is directly over the glass every time (believe it of not this is not always the case!)
*And to clean up? In some ways this is a breeze. All parts are dishwasher friendly and the jug unit lifts cleanly away from the base. This is when you realsise how sturdy and heavy this smoothie maker is - don't attempt to lift our one handed! Mind you there is a reassuring element to its sturdiness too as you get the feeling you have the real mcoy!! Everything comes apart to wash - it's not a 30 second job so its worth making a whole jug full at a time. The base is quite stiff to unscrew in order to clean the blades but is possible.
Verdict?
If you want to be healthy but are not a fruit and veg lover this is the product for you - tasty drinks and soups which disguise the fruit and veg without loosing the goodness! This is a powerful 700Watt motor to maximise both crush and smoot mix. This is great for crushing ice and gives a great texture to your drink It is an attractive stylish unit whcih will look great in yur kitchen - this means you can leave it out and it will remind you to use it! No more gadget sitting in the back of the cupboard feeling unloved! For once - something that's good for you can be fun and tasty!!
Advantages: great quality, good service, powerful, tap, stirrer, cool looks Disadvantages: jug cracked after 4 months, base can be stiff
...paid about £60 for the Kenwood after shopping around for a while. The first thing you notice is how heavy it is. The jug is thick glass and the base is metal. Inside is a 700 watt powerful motor which will happily crush ice and decimate most vegetables and fruit. The front of the machine has three buttons. On the right of the machine is the 'mix' and 'smooth' options (basically fast and faster). These are 'clickable' so they will stay on when you ... ...habit its okay.
The Kenwood comes with a small booklet on different mixes for fruit juices and smoothies but I'd advise getting a proper book as there are some really good ones on the market.
As I said, we use this every day and its never let us down or shown any signs of doing so except for the cracked jug. We are okay about this because the service we got from Kenwood after 4 months use was such that we have confidence in the product and the ...

...effective purchase.
I bought the Kenwood SB307 Smoothie maker.
*******What’s it like to use?********************
I bought this particular maker because my sister had the SB206, which was the first model of this kind.
My sisters smoothie maker is plastic with a chrome look.
It has 3 buttons, which mix and pulse (the pulse button can be used to mix faster and crush ice cubes).
She bought it for £29.99.
The SB307 cost me £69.97 from a popular ... ...I would use it daily and this model seemed to be built to last longer.
My sister also informed me that her model’s silver exterior peeled. It was also difficult to clean. The tap, which extracts the mixed liquid, became clogged with dried mixture. It’s hard to get out.
She said that she didn’t always wash it with soap and water, just water.
It can probably be overcome with very hot soapy water running through the tap. My model ...

Advantages: Does exactly what it says on the tin Disadvantages: Nozzle doesn't always get the last dregs out
...bought one of these, the Kenwood SB307 (although, I must say, I don't tend to call it that. I just call it "the blender", hence the need to match it to the picture!) It does the job. And what I mean by that, of course, is that it makes near-perfect smoothies. Smoothies I would pay the exorbitant prices of university towns to have the privilege of drinking. Smoothies that I have sought out in the even-more-highly-priced environs of Central London. ... ...gadget for a fraction of the price. Retailing at around £40-£50, you get a good looking machine for your money. With its brushed metal body and trademark "smoothie tap" for easy-dispensing, it can handle just about anything you throw at it. The jar itself is dishwasher safe, as the blades can be removed for easy cleaning. It holds a commendable 2 litres, which is more than enough for most parties, and, given it was specially designed for making smoothies, ...

Bought this for around £50 and was initially impressed with its features but ultimately i was unimpressed with it's durability. The motor is very strong and can crush ice/oats and fruit/veg easily but i found that the glass jug, while very strong and heavy, was still prone to cracking when it contained a lot of liquid. After about 6 months of use the glass jug began to crack around the handle, meaning you couldn't fill up the jug all the way when ...
