Toast has and will always continue to be part of my staple diet - its easy to make - cheap and a quick way to stop hunger pains for striking - especially when I have a hangover. I bought the Kenwood TT890 as the electric grill on my oven was poor and at £24.99 it seemed a bargin.Well built the Kenwood TT890 comes in one colour - white and struck me as quite posibly the most basic toaster I had ever seen - the box contained the toaster and a very basic instruction manual - there is no warming basket that sits on the top and one isn't available to buy seperately.
The toaster will hold comfortably 4 slices of bread and is easy to operate - there are 9 heat settings and once done it automatically releases the bread to avoid it burning - unless thats how you like your toast. Toasting can be stoppe at any time by pressing the cancel button and that pretty much sums up everything there is to describe it.Performance wise the TT890 makes up for its basic functions and lack of special details - the elements heat up very quickly and it takes approx 2 minutes to get bread a lovely golden brown.
As for flaws the only issue I have is that the crumb collection tray isn't easily removeable and is very fiddly - in the end I just turn the toaster upside down and shake it over the bin to remove crumbs.I'm pleased with my purchase - its a good low cost toaster that does the job - and does it well.
