"Kerrang do something right"

If you like me have been listening to the radio for about 6 months, (or took my advice on watching MTV2) you’ll find that it is playing more and more of Nu Metal bands. This includes Papa Roach, Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit, who have all had repeated chart success in recent time, showing several pop fans just what they are missing. Picking up on this trend, one of the UK’s biggest rock channels/magazines, Kerrang, has released this 39 track CD compilation featuring most of the main names in the business, along with a few rising stars.

I’m not going to going into every track, but it’s easy to see from the list below that Disc 1 is far better than Disc 2, even though it has some great songs. This is due to the fact that the artists on Disc 1 are the ones you’re more likely to have heard of. A couple of the main nu-metal bands (Korn and Slipknot) are missing, but I’m glad to say my musical taste passes these bands, Slipknot are just, well, complete arse to be honest, and Korn I never liked anyway. It’s good to see some older bands in there as well, that might just appeal to the older generation. What I also like is the fact that it’s not all just one style, there are many in there, including Indie.

It looks like Kerrang might just have done something right here, yes there will be tracks you won’t like, but there is with every album these days. These tracks have been selected because they really are the best featured on Kerrang, not that there ever was much on it anyway, but you get the jist. It might cost more than a normal double CD, but the quality of it is worth it on it’s own. I also might not like all the tracks on it, but at least they’re not pop. Go and buy it now, or at least download it. You’re likely to enjoy it.
