***Breville Spectra Stainless Steel Kettle*** Ive tried many new kettles since we bought our new house, but last December we had our kitchen totally refitted, but unfortunately it meant all of our white reliable appliances looked a bit out of place with our shiny new kitchen. Where did I shop: Im quite a frequent shopper at Argos because I love some of their special offers and on this occasion they had a sale on a lot of their electrical appliances. The kettle cost me £34.00 and I had the option to purchase the 3 year replacement cover, but taking previous experiences into account I opted to stick with the standard one year warranty included ...

...bought it to replace another Breville kettle. The previous one worked fine but hot water seemed to drip down the front when pouring, which isn't very good. This 'Hot Cup' kettle is very different though and looks not too dissimilar to a coffee machine and it pours the water for you without you having to lift it off the base (it's more of a dispenser really). It has a bright blue light where the button is and the transparent part of the body with ... ...the kettle on. Overall, I think the kettle is very stylish looking kettle. The kettle is an energy-saving kettle and also a very quick boiling kettle, which is just what we need as no one likes waiting for water to boil. We had previously bought a quick boiling kettle which is supposedly boiled water in a matter of seconds but the results were so disappointing that we returned it. This kettle on the other hand has been quite impressive but it's not ...

...no longer exist. Breville have agreed to me returning it to them, but refuse to pay the postage. My last kettle cost £4.99 and lasted just over a year. I thought the Breville would last at least 7 years not 6 months. If Breville replace it and refund my postage I might be happy, but will I end up returning the next one again at my own expense? I notice the other reviews seem good, although some of course have not been owned long enough or perhaps ... ...an the old one. Breville must have serious quality contol issues and in my view the model is not fit to be released for sale. I am waiting now for their comments. It would be nice if they put their hands up and admit this kettle is rubbish. Nothing short of a refund would make me happy now. I can't see I will buy an Breville product ever again after this experience. Their customer service to date leaces a lot to be desired too.. I can't believe it ...

Advantages: quick- quiet - great conversation piece!! Disadvantages: bit heavy --expensive
IT'S A DISCO KETTLE!!! Colours change on spout and body of kettle as it comes up to the boil-goes from red right thru to green--- it then switches itself off. Better than the telly!!! Has cord storage on the bottom and a built in filter. It's probably my imagination but I'm sure my coffee tastes better.!!
One definite advantage for me is you just press a button on the top and it keeps the remaining water at a simmer so you don't have to boil it ... ...It's really really quick and boils two mugs in less than a minute and bliss( first thing in the morning) it's very quiet!!
Has a cut off feature so it can't boil dry, but i always switch it off at night as the water does evaporate when it's on the keep warm mode. Has a feature that tells you when the filter needs replacing, but haven't seen it yet as I've only had it 4 months.

The minefield of kettles is a nightmare to go through - trying to find the right one for you can be horrific - scanning all the catalogues, trailing round the shops and searching online - I found this one at Comet and it was "love at first site". The overall design is very pleasing to the eye - very sleek lines for a kettle . Large chunky handle that is easy to grip. fairly solid plastic construction with the element concealed under a metal plate ... ...view of the water level - so no excuse for letting the kettle boil dry. ( but it does have an anti boil-dry feature The ketlle is very easy to operate with the on off switch on top of the handle - (it is auto-off but you can switch off manually) . It has a fun side to it with the nice blue colour emitted from a small bulb inside when it is "resting", which changes to a red colour when it is in the process of heating and boiling.
