Advantages: great name, great style and problem free Disadvantages: Slightly more expensive than a supermarket' kettle
I brought this Morphy Ricards kettle a few months ago off of Amazon for £24.99. My old kettle had broken and faced with a £5 kettle from Tescos which I figured would break in a couple of months and this stylish black and steel kettle there was no choice really. Admittedly I did have £20 worth of vouchers for Amazon to spend as well.
I have never ever had a problem with any Morphy Richards products I have ever owned, including my bread maker and ... ...buy a new kettle. The Morphy Richards has a push button lid and a failsafe cut-out in case of problems. I should probably warn you that I have heard of people's kettles opening button failing to work after a couple of months use. All I can say is that four months down the line and my kettle is still in perfect working order.
Oh yes and before I forget it has a two year warranty with it so peace of mind as well.
Basically it does what every kettle ...

Advantages: cool neon blue light, solidly built, boils quickly Disadvantages: spits boiling water, not safe, tempremental, expensive
...my new toy.
The Morphy Richards 43121 is a jug kettle, a jug kettle glows blue once the power has been switched on and stays glowing almost hypnotically until the water in the kettle has been boiled. How cool is that?
The jug design and neon light were what originally drew me to the Morphy Richards 43121 so build quality and boiling speeds were a secondary consideration and not something I had really cared about. Made from plastic, chrome and glass ... ...boiling water effortless.
On balance I would say it is average but I could have got a much better kettle for the price I paid. I won't be suckered in to buying something like this for novelty value again so I have to say avoid the Morphy Richards 43121. ...

...low we settled on the Morphy Richards Manhattan Kettle to replace our other Morphy Richards Kettle 43120 Glass Please read the review on the 43120 when i post is as it is a dangerous kettle
Anyway back to the new Manhattan
The kettle is finished in a highly polished shiney chrome which actually resists finger prints very well so it stays cleaner. It gives the appearance of being very tall and slim and in the shop it looked a bit odd but when we ... ...a double cool wall and for those who are worrined as it is metal and conducting heat from the water don't. Yes its gets warm but not hot enough to scold if you accidently touch it.
When the kettle is put on to boil there is a funky blue light which lights up the water level indicator on both sides.
One draw back is the water level indicator is difficult to read where the level is as the window is very thin. You get used to the cup indicator rather ...

Advantages: Safe, energy saving and value for money Disadvantages: A bit noisy
I bought this kettle after my old kenwood stopped working for no apparent reason. At £24.95 the price was extremely competitive for this type of kettle.
It's cordless which means I can move it around well as i use it, not only for drinks, but also for filling saucepans when boiling vegetables to save time and energy.
It has a 360 degree base which is great as I'm right-handed and my other half is left-handed so there's no juggling around. The fixing ... ...is slightly raised. This means that it's almost impossible to knock it off the base and also there's less likely to be a problem with water from the bottom of the kettle getting into the electrical socket.
The lid opens via a button at the top of the kettle and does not come off completely. This is a great safety feature as it means it can't be opened or knocked off accidently.
To fill the kettle the manufacturer recommends you use the spout as ...

Advantages: It whistles when it boils!! Disadvantages: None
A cheap reliable jug kettle that does the job nicely. Living in a small village on a Bank Holiday Monday is not great when your kettle breaks. However, fortunatly, our local hardware shop was open and out of a choice of 3 jug kettles, I opted for this little beauty. Mainly because it whistled!!
To be honest, any kettle would have done at the time. Nothing worse than no tea making facilities.
Anyway, this kettle is corless, finished in silver plastic ...
