Great entry level electronica tool.
Review of Korg Poly-800 by
corianlightsphere
Advantages: Sounds great. Very simple menu interface. Very cheap.
Disadvantages: No midi thru.
This was my first midi synthesizer. It has a great warm sound produced by digitally controlled analog oscillators. It can add a great edge to your music. I like to hook up a midi cable to another keyboard that plays a pattern through this one. It syncs up the joystick with the BPM of whatever pattern is playing. If your just using it to play leads, not hooked up to another device, you can hook up the midi in back to the midi out, and it doubles the ... ...had problems with the built in sequencer being triggered by other devices in my chain, so I just entered step recording mode, and either saved, or played one rest then saved (Can't remember) And that problem has been gone ever since. This was the cheapest of all the vintage midi synths I've bought ($110.00 with free shipping on Ebay)
I've seen them as cheap as 90.00 and it really looks like something you could score for $5.00 at a garage sale. Looks ...

A brilliant keyboard that works wonders - Korg X5D
Review of Korg X5D by
zak-2
Advantages: Huge range of sounds, + proffessional for its price
Disadvantages: I find the options of changing the sounds is limited
I bought myself a korg X5D last year, i was a bit skeptical at the time, not really knowing much about keyboards, but i havent regreted it a bit. For a start, its pretty proffessional, having the following functions:
midi compatible,
a stunning range of sounds (430) altogether,
64 note polyphony,
5 scales, and a superb range of functions, including effects changing for sounds, and a program which lets you make your own sound for the keybord (via ... ...they are changeable.
For some, the appearance of a keyboard, is required to be good, tyhe korg X5D looks amazingly smooth, with a cool lit lcd display, and under 20 lit
buttons neatly arranged, the whole top of the keyboard designed to perfection.
its price: about £300 ...

Satan owns one of these
Review of Korg Mono/Poly by
crustypaul
Advantages: Sounds that could cripple you for life
Disadvantages: It's expensive and you need a MIDI-CV convertor,
The Korg mono/poly is possibly the most visciously evil beast of an analogue synthesiser i have ever heard except for the EMS VCS3 which is way too rare and expensive for us mere mortals to own. If you are into Acid Techno or agressive trance of any sort then the Korg Mono/Poly is a major part of the sonic arsenal that you have been listening too all this time. From the second you turn this synth on the four oscillators start belting out some of ... ...territory than acid squelching, i have never found anything else that can produce such bin buggeringly chunky sounds and mammoth hoovery leads as the mono/poly. IF you like size and aggression to your music then buy one, the new Korg ms2000 digital synth is no substitute for the real thing. ...

I love my Trinity.
Review of Korg Trinity by
relentless_behaviour
Advantages: Great sound quality and overall usefulness
Disadvantages: Few user un-friendly parts
...overly religious; I love my Korg Trinity Pro.
Imagine the scene: "Dad, I think I need something a little more up market if I am to succeed in my musical ventures." I was 16, just after my GCSEs had made my dad proud for an altogether brief moment. "I think I need a synthesiser."
So, we went to Brighton, to a music shop, the name of which escapes me, but I recall it was run by a man called Matt Hi-tech (his real name, I'm lead to believe) who'd ... ...Korg Trinity synths. I browsed through a black and white jungle of keyboards, synths vocoders, sequencers and samplers, LEDs flashing, LCDs displaying some rather pretentious voice names and I came across the beast. Its brushed aluminium casing gleaming in the light. I fiddled with it for a while and fooled around with the touch-screen and was wowed by its seemingly user-friendliness.
I wanted that one. At £2000, I thought maybe I was pushing my ...

Korg N1 - not the best buy.
Review of Korg N1 by
Hmatt
Advantages: Incredible sound repetoire & sound editing.
Disadvantages: Time consuming interface & difficult to transport.
...seem so stupid then... Korg simply does not do customer support, either.
The size is a problem too - if you have a small car the N1 may simply not fit in. I had this trouble once on the way to a studio - my friend's small second hand Fiesta was simply not big enough to hold it and I had to take a taxi! It is way to heavy to carry about town, think in the 200m range - shifting it about is a real problem unless you have an estate car or van at your ... ...of the slightly more expensive Korg Triton range, as their touch screen menus are beautiful and much better laid out. They have much the same features, and sequencers. When I bought the N1 I choose not to buy a Triton simply because it had a sequencer I wouldn't use (I record onto my computer). To be honest, if I saw a Triton at a price I liked (second hand, perhaps) I would strongly consider trading my N1 in to buy what I now believe to be a stronger ...
