Advantages: PING, you are awake. Disadvantages: Drink too much and it's bouncing off walls time. USE IN MODERATION
Tesco produce their own red bull, and it's called Kick, this is Tesco's slant on stimulation drinks, and it doesn't disappoint. To coin a phrase "it does exactly what it says on the tin/ bottle whatever" Working night shifts has meant that I probably use this product for its main reason for being rather than a vodka mixer. This product has helped to keep me awake during night shifts for a couple of months now and because I travel 35 miles ... ...On this front I can't complain.
Problems arise when you start having an extra glass, this product has a very high caffeine content, Doctor's recommend upto 300 mg a day of caffeine and a litre bottle contains 300 mg. Add this onto your daily consumption of Tea (50 mg a cup), Coffee (100-150mg a cup) and Coke (50mg a can), all of which contain caffeine and you are now overdosing, because this product is quite sweet it can be over-used ... more
Tesco produce their own red bull, and it's called Kick, this is Tesco's slant on stimulation drinks, and it doesn't disappoint. To coin a phrase "it does exactly what it says on the tin/ bottle whatever" Working night shifts has meant that I probably use this product for its main reason for being rather than a vodka mixer. This product has helped to keep me awake during night shifts for a couple of months now and because I travel 35 miles to work it has helped get me home too. On this front I can't complain.
Problems arise when you start having an extra glass, this product has a very high caffeine content, Doctor's recommend upto 300 mg a day of caffeine and a litre bottle contains 300 mg. Add this onto your daily consumption of Tea (50 mg a cup), Coffee (100-150mg a cup) and Coke (50mg a can), all of which contain caffeine and you are now overdosing, because this product is quite sweet it can be over-used very quickly and if you are doing a lot of manual work, is more thirst quenching than a cup of tea or coffee. Gradually as your intake increases the effects are more prominent. During a night shift your body naturally tires because of your "circadian rythems"(body clock), if you take on board a stimulant, you will still feel tired but your body remains awake. It does not improve responses, if you are tired you will still be slow but you will be more aware of your surroundings. Also because caffeine is a drug, you have to use in moderation as it is addictive and if you overdose you will experience headaches if you stop using for a while (caffeine's version of cold turkey).
Meanwhile, as far as Kick goes, it is very drinkable and isn't as harsh as it's more expensive cousin (and also comes in cranberry flavour as well as original and diet), it is also a lot easier on the pocket. 98p a litre, and the bottles are more often than not BOGOFs or 2 for £1.50. It is also available in 250ml cans for 46p. Even though this is a more expensive option, this is what I recommend using as the temptation to drink more if you had the litre bottle is always there, also it makes it easier to work out your caffeine intake.
It is recommended that if you do work nights to have your preferred stimulant drink (Kick, Coffee etc) 2 hours before you go home as, the caffeine takes approx 30 minutes to get into your system and will stay there for upto 5 hours, usually subsides after 3. This should get you home and the caffeine present in your system will be subsiding as you start to go to bed.
Some other aids for sleeping on days are: Dark curtains - we are a photosensative species meaning we are stimulated by light. You don't go to sleep with the light on do you!
Cool air temperature - We've all woken up on hot summer nights, cooler air temperatures make us less likely to wake up.
Sound - During the day, everybody else is awake apart from you and can make a lot of noise, if you have an oscillating fan in the room, not only will it help with temperature but will also supply some background noise that will help drown out outside noises, and because it's a constant sound, your body will soon not hear it. If no fan is available try a radio but tuned into the static on a low volume.
Hope these help.
That is end of my review on Kick, more of an experience review but there it is.
Advantages: Keeps you awake and is miles cheaper than Red Bull Disadvantages: Tastes like crap, smells like crap and looks like piss.
...that does just as well, Tesco Kick stimulation drink.
So, what is Tesco Kick? Well, it is basically Tesco's answer to Red Bull, Red Rooster and other lesser known energy drinks available on the market. It doesn't give you wings as Red Bull claims to do but then having tried Red Bull myself, I can honestly say that feathers didn't sprout from my arse followed by the sudden urge to throw myself off of the nearest bridge to test their theory.
Anyway, ... ...thought).
You can also buy Tesco Kick in large silver 1 litre bottles with a big shiny silver horse shoe on the label no less (just as ugly as the cans by the way), for 95p, although they are frequently included in Tesco's buy one get one free promotions which makes them a steal. The design of the can and bottle may not be up to RB's colourful arty packaging, but for the extra 80 or so pence difference in price, I'll take the minger thanks.
There ...

Advantages: caffiene levels Disadvantages: Its just horrible!
...The process for selection tesco do not expand upon.
This product is what i would call a Ronseal product ...it does exactly what is says on the tin (plastic bottle in this case). It gives you a kick. I have no doubts that the non-diet version provides more of a kick by way of sugar content but im not a sugar lover so did not even entertain the notion of buying the full teeth rotting variety.
The caffeine content is high 30mg/100ml - what ever that ... ...that. It also has added Taurine (isnt that a star sign?) and vitamins listed below for 250ml (a qaurter of the bottle).
Niacon - 100%RDA Vitamin B6 - 100% RDA
Vitamin B12 - 50% RDA
Panothenic Acid - 85% RDA (i think they have made that one vitamin up)
It is also worth mentioning that there is 5cals per 250ml and in bold letters it states it is a source of phenylalanine. Now to me that sounded sort of pasta, so for your benefit i looked up what ...

Advantages: cheap, as good as red bull Disadvantages: bad for you
...sliver horseshoe. As with most tesco products, it has a breakdown of the rda's on the label. The packaging is rather uninspiring, if truth be told, but really i think with a product of this nature, that is no a big issue. It does what it needs to do, and not much else. the packaging is recyclable, which at least is one redeeming factor. Must do our bit for the environment!!!
ingredients.
predominantly made with carbonated water and various sugars. ... ...is a lot less expensive. Tesco sell them two bottles for £1.50. Considering that you get eight times as much as you do in a can of red bull, we can divide £1.50 by eight which gives the following price comparison - 250mls red bull = around £1.15
250mls tesco kick = 18p!!!!
So my advice would be to go for the tesco brand. The only thing i found wrong about it was that it loses its fizz quite quickly in comparison to other drinks.
If it has to be ...

Advantages: Something different Disadvantages: The taste
...down the street, and knowing Tesco they would not let any area of food or drink go untouched without putting out a brand version of their own that could easily take away from the big time brands because of the value they can slap on a bottle or can.
Mars rip-off, Crazy Caramel, anyone?
Kick comes in both original and diet version, yet I struggle to taste a difference. I actually only have a bottle of the diet version in my house, and I've had it ... ...in nowadays, and my local Tesco is putting them on sale for 25p - I think that's because they're trying to clear the shelf though. I'm not a big energy drink, er.. drinker, but I don't think Tesco have got a product here that could put big names out of business. I would recommend you buy a small amount of Kick before going out and getting a crate of the litre bottles, because if you don't like it you could find yourself pouring the foul smell away ...

After seeing the stylish, attractive bottle, I had to give this a try! After trying it once, I have been buying it frequently ever since!
This is Tesco’s own version of a stimulation drink. I really love this stuff, especially when I add vodka too it! It tastes just like red bull, and I find that the only difference is the price. I thought I would let you know about it, and it’s great that Ciao accepted my product proposal for it!
Often enough ... ...or bottles. I usually buy a 1 litre bottle and it costs less than £1, which I find is very competitive. They also come in small cans, the size of other stimulation drinks for 48p, and can be bought in packs of six! At present, the offer is 2 packs of 6 for £5. This is more useful for drinking on the go, but for my purpose of mixing it in a glass with vodka, I find the one litre bottle the best value.
The drink itself is yellow, and can be a bit ...
