So what exactly is the Buggy Board? It's an ingenious piece of engineering that allows you to fix a skateboard-type platform onto the back of a buggy or pram, so that an older child can ride on the back while you push a baby in the actual buggy. It has two wheels which gave a surprisingly smooth ride: I didn't expect the buggy to be easy to use with the board attached, but it corners and reverses just the same as normal. I even managed to drag it across the beach! The board has a wheel at each end, right and left, and two arms that can be adjusted so that the board is horizontal nomatter what kind of buggy you have to attach it to. At the end of the arms are two red plastic buttons that can be pressed to allow the arms to slide into, and out of, the round holders. These holders are fixed to the body of the buggy at all times, although could be removed if necessary, so you simply press the red buttons and slide off the whole buggy board when you want to remove it. All you're left with are two small plastic rings around the legs of the buggy, just above the back wheels, which don't get in the way of folding the buggy if they're fitted correctly. In short, it's now incredibly easy to attach and detach. The board also comes with a strap and attachments so that you can fold it up against the back of the buggy when not in use, although I'm not sure it would be suitable for all buggy designs; ours has a rather prominent basket at the back which takes up a lot of room.
Once the board is attached, the child climbs on and holds on to the handle of the buggy. This is the first drawback: our 23 month old daughter found it tiring to hold onto the handles, and I think she felt quite unstable with her arms up over her head. This frightened her, especially going over bumps, so she was reluctant to use the board at all. The fact that she couldn't see where she was going over the top of the buggy may also have contributed. We found that getting her to hold on to the outside of the handle, where it is perpendicular to the part the parent uses to push and joins on to the actual body of the buggy, was easier on her arms.
We recently purchased the Buggy Board from a local toy and children's equipment shop for £45. I was able to fit it to our Graco travelsystem buggy with ease; the instructions are actually very difficult to follow but the pictures are a good help! The instructions do not clearly label each individual part but have diagrams with arrows, which are not always helpful when you have, for example, two different types of screws and can't tell which is which. You can also secure some of the parts in either of two ways, which complicates the diagrams somewhat: the red buttons on the arms can be fixed on the inside or outside depending on how wide your buggy is. Nevertheless, I found it quite straightforward to fix and it hasn't come off yet! I think I only needed a screwdriver, and the rest of the mostly plastic and metal parts simply slotted or turned into place.
We bought the board because we were going on holiday to Centerparcs with a toddler and a baby, and couldn't fit two buggies in the car along with all the food and clothes. It certainly did the job: it's very lightweight and easy to store. It managed the rough, off-road terrain in the forest with ease, although a second drawback we discovered was that it's quite difficult to push the buggy when the board is attached. You have to adopt a 'bum-out-arms-forward' march to avoid kicking the board with every step, which can be extremely sore on your back. This is, of course, multiplied ten-fold once you have a two-stone baby on top! The best comparison is to consider the alternative: I have also pushed double buggies and they're heavier, wider and harder to get up kerbs.
My daughter has a bit of a wild streak and we often use her buggy more to keep her in one place, rather than to save her legs! She loves to walk so the board was perfect for her when she was tired or we needed to go quickly. However, this still leaves the problem that she can try to step down from the board when it's moving and, when you stop, she's off! I don't feel terribly confident crossing roads as a result. But all in all, the board is extremely handy and may save a family with an new baby and older toddler from needing to buy a new pushchair. It just takes a little training and patience to get the toddler to use it properly, although I suspect many children will find it exciting and use it without any coaxing at all! At £45 I was quite shocked at the price, considering you could buy a second-hand buggy or a new stroller for that amount, but I suppose that wouldn't be of any benefit if you need to transport two children with only one adult. If that's the case, this is a superb investment and I would recommend it: you'll probably get a lot more use out of it than you'd expect. The board can be bought in all the usual baby equipment retailers plus smaller children's shops. I have selected the 1-3 years age range because my daughter is two, but you could easily use it for an older child provided they don't bash their head on the handle bar! I have also chosen 'satisfactory' safety because, in effect, the child is not secured in any way to the board. As I said, some children may try to step off and it is up to the adult to make sure they ride the board properly. However, the parts and attachments seem to be sturdy so the board itself should be very safe. I'll edit this review in the future if I have any problems! Value for money is 'good' because, despite the high price tag, it may turn out to be a real life-saver for anyone who has to cope with two young children on their own at any time, and is cheaper than the double-buggy alternative.
Advantages: The best invention ever made for kids Disadvantages: expensive and not recommended by buggy manufacturers
...have recently also bought a kiddy board, which is more or less the same as a buggy board but it is designed for buggys that have a rear axle as opposed to suitable uprights. I bought a new travel system for my new baby and the buggy board doesn't fit it. The kiddy board also cost me £40.
The kiddy board also requires simple assmebly, The wheels need clicking into the board. There is a clip which needs to be screwed to the middle of the axle, then ... ...kind of bobble on the kiddy board, which you poke into a hole in the clip and press down until it snaps into place. The board is released by pressing a button on the clip and lifting the board back up and out.
The kiddy board also comes with the strap to lift it up out the way when not in use, but it is too short for my new buggy which has a ratehr tall handle. I wouldn't use it anyway as I didn't use the one with my buggy board.

Advantages: Makes going out for a walk easy and fun again Disadvantages: The price
...Lascal. They also make Kiddy Boards (a similar idea to the buggy board) and Kiddy Guards. This company use recycled materials whenever possible.
FEATURES
+ The board has suspension for a smooth ride. This works pretty well.
+ The board is held in a fixed position so the child doesn’t get swung around and hit his head on the bars of the buggy.
+ The board has a non-slip surface. (Important feature in this land of many puddles!!)
+ When ... ...is pushing the buggy can walk normally with feet fitting underneath the board. (I actually find it quite awkward and a definite no-go for thick-soled shoes!)
+ The board, once attachments are fitted is easy to get on and off.
+ A strap comes with the board to hold it in an upright position when not being used. (Much easier just to take it off if you ask me though!)
+ There are different ways of fixing the Buggy Board to the chassis depending on ...

...like etc. Lascal do a kiddy board to, which is more or less the same thing but with a different fitting on. You need to buy the right one, so check them out and see which you need to buy for the design of your buggy!
Now I’d have thought they would have been more widely available considering how absolutely brilliant I think they are but no this is not the case.
I did ask in Mothercare as I was buying a buggy (to go with my buggy board) only to ... ...product and will not guarantee any buggy, which has been in use with one!
I then asked why this was and was told that Mothercare does not feel they are safe and also they have had several buggy returned, which may have been damaged by the use of a buggy board. This I might add was food for thought and I did rethink the whole double buggy versus the buggy board thing again but in the end I bought a very nice buggy for £109.00 and also my buggy board ...

Advantages: easy to use, excellent for a child who won't fit a tandam pushchair Disadvantages: bit pricey
...the buggy board and the kiddy board, the only difference between them, apart from the shape is that they are made for different types of chassis. The shop assistant was very helpful, allowing me to try out the board on display, before I made any commitment, because at £45 they are not particually cheap to buy
The board has an attachment that fixes on the bar at the back of the pushchair, This is a block, that does up with an allum key (which is ... ...tightly so that it doesn't move, the board then fits into the hole at the front, this is a bit like a large keyhole shape, you push the board in and then down, and to release the board again, push down on the red button at the top.
The borad also comes with a cord, that attaches through a small hole in the middle of the board, this is so it can be pulled up and tied to the back of the pushchair when not in use, but to be honest this doesn't particually ...

Advantages: easy to use, Detachable, Disadvantages: expensive,
The kiddyboard is a solution for many people, maybe a nightmare to others. Whether it's useful might depend on who is using it and where. Let me tell you what it meant to us.
I live in the southernmost part of the Netherlands. A hilly bit of land between Belgium and Germany. In the South we have the Ardennes and in the east there is the German Eiffel. There are only few things nicer than strolling around in the forests that surround our little village. ... ...We have two adoptive daughters from China. Ling (3 y) and Xiao Li (1 y). Only last July 2005 did we return from our second trip to China. As soon as we were back home we tried to pick up our daily routine. Every afternoon we take a big walk in the before mentioned woods. AHA, there is the problem. We have one stroller and two children. Xiao Li cannot not walk yet. And most of the time Ling doesn't WANT to walk. And when she does, we better start ...

Advantages: Comfy, sturdy and flexible transport system for your baby Disadvantages: Very large and heavy, hefty price tag
for people who use public transport a lot or those with small car boots, but if these are not an issue then I would recommend this buggy wholeheartedly. It is very sturdy and feels safe and secure for your little one. It is easy to push. It has neat storage space. It is really comfy. It washes well. The wheels don't wear out if you use it regularly. The only fault is the size and weight when folded.
Points to note, the car seat is for babies u pto the age of around 9 months. The buggy can be used up to age approximately four. The guarantee (sorry forgotten how long its for) is void if you use a buggyboard. I do however use my buggyboard, although you have to get the kiddy version for prams with axels. The child stands on the board and their head will be just below the handle of the buggy. My two year old (2 yrs 4 months) is now too ...
Advantages: Very easy to push and steer. Adaptable with different optional accessories. Disadvantages: Expensive. Design fault on footplate (improved replacement available)
meant that the wheel fouled the frame of the pushchair, causing it to get jammed. Inspection of the footplate showed it to be a very poor design.
We obtained a new footplate from BabyStyle, and the design had changed. It has 2 reinforcing bars welded on to it, making it much stronger. This cured the problem. I recommend that if you plan to buy this pushchair you look under the footplate. If it has 2 reinforcing bars running from the round wheel spindle to the back, it's a good one. If not, steer clear of it, or ask for a free upgrade.
One disadvantage of this pushchair is that it is almost impossible to fit a BuggyBoard due to the suspension system. I managed it, but it took a bit of ingenuity. According to the Lascal (BuggyBoard) website, you can not fit a BuggyBoard to this pushchair.
There is no fixed back axle, so ...
