History with the horrible bits left in.
Advantages: Educational, alright cartoon artwork and humerous. Disadvantages: They don't have them at my local shops anymore.
...and I got my first horrible histories magazine I wasn't that excited, I thought it would be boring since it was about history but when I opened the magazine I was instantly hooked and was quickly learning about different historical periods.
Inside the magazine is comic strips, profiles of famous people and little facts about what food they ate etc.
Most of the issues have around 23 pages with cartoon artwork by Martin Brown.
The first magazine ... ...Victorians etc it sometimes returned to the same history period and went on about it a bit more, some of it was also about history in different countries. Fans of this magazine will also like the book versions written by Terry Deary which goes into more detail about certain historical times.
The magazine is aimed towards middle school children but are still enjoyable to read at any age. The only bad thing is that they don't stock them at any shops ...

Shout
Advantages: Great for kids age 9-12 , easy to read , organised Disadvantages: simple for above aged 12
...been a major fan of shout and not read it for a couple of years , I decided to see if I'd missed much! It was their new make over which grabbed my attention! I thought it looked quite childish but thought i'd buy it anyway.
Although this magazine is aimed at 9-14 year olds , i would not reccommend a 14 year old to read it as it's rather childish. For example it covers about 4 pages just comparing celebs as to how alike they are.
Each month a celeb ... ...scarlett johanson and Jessica Alba.
Shout lets it's readers take part in the magazine by printing their embarrassing moments and real life stories.I think that the real life stories are a scary read for nine year olds as they may be too mature for them to handle.
Shout contains a few fashion pages using teenage models. The models in the magazine look normal and not too skinny.
Shout reveals all the latest storylines coming up in popular soaps such ...

Simlpy brilliant!
Advantages: educational, informative, fun, kids love it, unique Disadvantages: Waiting for the next issue!
...surprised and happy to discover National Geographic Kids.
The cover price is £2.99, it seems expensive but its really not that far off other children's magazines. The cover is very bright and colourful with great pictures of animals. There is loads inside. Just to name a few things, in the May 2007 issue there is how to feng shui your room, toucans and trees, a handwriting personality test. There a fantastic and brilliantly written feature on the ... ...for a cartoon on the National Geographic Channel, and the last is a Nintendo game.
This magazine is very different from others on the market aimed at children. My child enjoyed telling me all the facts learned and discussing the stories with me. One thing that really stood out to me was how long it kept my child entertained. The usual kids magazines last around half an hour, and sometimes can be read again, but the National Geographic Kids magazine ...

A Firm Favourite for us Both
Advantages: Everything Disadvantages: nothing
Favourites Magazine A Firm Favourite for us Both I am starting to think that I am way too soft on my daughter, though one little sweet grin and the flicker of her long eyelashes and I give in so easily. I always said that at her age of only two, I would buy perhaps one magazine a month if that, though my daughter loves reading books and magazines and enjoys drawing, craft and stickers so at least magazines get well used, and I cut out the unused ... ...– Another of my daughters favourites and very educational as she not only teaches children Spanish but also other great every day values. http://www.nickjr.com/dora-the-explorer/ Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom – This sweet programme follows a group of fairies as they are taught in school. My daughter has recently started watching this sweet programme. http://www.nickjr.co.uk/shows/littlekingdom/ Yo Gabba Gabba – An unusual looking programme with ...

Bob the daylight robber!
Advantages: Keeps Noah entertained for a few hours Disadvantages: Expensive
This magazine is certainly one for the boys! Noah gets so excited when he see's it in the shop and nine times out of ten he will choose this one over the many others that catch his eye. The magazine features all of the characters that you will find in the actual programme. They are all dotted throughout the magazine and introduce an activity or feature in one of the double paged spread stories. As with most children's magazine these days, you do ... ...the last one that Noah had, he got a replica vehicle of two of the main characters but they were so poorly made that they broke within a few hours and there were little bits of plastic dotted around for my youngest to pop in his mouth. In my opinion the cost of the magazine (£2) is far too much for what it is. It's flimsy and get's broken and ripped very easily when in the hands of a two year old. There isn't a lot of activities inside and there ...
