Here it all begins. The year is 2058. The cop is Lieutenant Eve Dallas. The story is DEATH.
I first read a J.D.Robb book because I had read and thoroughly enjoyed reading Nora Roberts books. I didn't read the first few that mum got from the library because I didn't think they were for me.
So, what are they about?
A futuristic New York, a woman cop who looks at her wrist unit instead of her watch, talks on a link instead of a video mobile phone and punches the vertical button in her car when the traffic is bad. Nora said that she has enjoyed making the future as she would like it to be. Almost every disease has a cure in this world and with body maintenance that seems to be affordable to most the aging process is slowed right down. Advantages: Very fast paced, humour, angst, plotline and good characterisation Disadvantages: Futuristic not to everyone's taste - also overly done with the sex scenes!
J.D. Robb is a pseudonym for NY Times best-selling author Nora Roberts, and Eve Dallas is the main character of the InDeath series, a futuristic (circa 2058 AD) romance-mystery stories.

Eve Dallas - Is found as an 8 year old child covered in blood and no memory. Eventually she is homed in the system and given the name Eve. As soon as she is of age, she moves to New York and joins the police force, rising through the ranks to become a detective lieutenant in the Homicide squad.
Through the series of books we get various points of memory return, revealing sexual and physical abuse by her father.
Eve marries Roarke - a former career criminal who turns to straight once he becomes involved with Eve and is one of the richest men in the world.

In 1995, an unknown writer called JD Robb appeared with 3 books, which became an instant success. What wasn't known by most was the writer was in fact the well known author, Nora Roberts and the 3 books were basically an experiment to see if they could be successful in their own right. Nora Roberts used the initials of her sons (J and D) and Robb was a shortening of her surname Roberts.
Eventually the publishers acknowledged the main writer was indeed Nora Roberts, but it wasn't done until the 12th book in the series and now this is shown by the titles, which recognise JD Robb as being Nora Roberts.
