I first started using King of Shaves blue gel for women about two years ago. Before which I used a combination of mine or my boyfriend’s shaving foam. I didn’t like using shaving foam because it is really messy and seems a little pointless for a small area such as the arm pits. That is why I was on the look out for a new product that would put those messy shaving times behind me.
Packaging
King of Shaves blue gel comes ... ...is quite plain, with the king of shaves logo at the top in white; around the base it displays various information about the product.
On the back of the packaging there is lots of information about how the product works directions for use, ingredients and other statutory information.
Part of the packaging is see-through and you can see the product (which is also blue).

Packaging
King of Shaves blue gel comes in a blue tube packaging, similar to the shape of a tube of toothpaste but much larger. The product can stand up right as it is made of a combination of soft plastic (so you can squeeze the contents out) and hard plastic at the base where the lid is. It has a flip top lid which is quite secure, but if you are a little heavy handed with, is certain to break after a few uses. The design on the tube is quite plain, with the king of shaves logo at the top in white; around the base it displays various information about the product. On the back of the packaging there is lots of information about how the product works directions for use, ingredients and other statutory information. Part of the packaging is see-through and you can see the product (which is also blue). I think the packaging could be a lot more effective if they changed the design, just making more of the packaging see-through so you can see more of the product would make it more interesting.
Smell, appearance and texture
The blue gel has quite a strong smell. It’s a mixture between mint and soap and is quite sharp. (Not that I can normally be caught sniffing shaving gel in the evening) The gel is blue in colour with ‘balls’ suspended in it. These balls are white and are quite hard to the touch. These balls are apparently ‘unique dual delivery system microcapsules containing essential oils that protect and lubricate your skin’. I’m not entirely sure about that but they certainly look nice! As you would expect from a gel, it has a very sticky texture, which is added to by the ‘microcapsules’ which give a little bit of a gritty texture. Despite this gritty texture, it doesn’t feel rough on your skin.
Put to the test
So the real question is despite the fancy language and the promises of an ultra soft shave does the blue gel beat the good old shaving foam? Well, to start with it is no where near as messy. All you need is a small amount of gel, (depending on what you are shaving and how big the area is) for your legs, a blob about the same as a 2p coin. This is then applied to the whole of the area which needs shaving and spread out evenly. This is harder to achieve than you think, however, because the shaving gel is translucent. It is invisible to the eye, so you have to be careful when putting it so that you cover the whole area. In the same way when you are shaving you have to be careful that you shave every part of your leg. With shaving foam it is a lot easy to see the parts that you missed because there is a large bit of white foam still stuck to your leg! The shave is a lot smoother than with shaving foam, as with shaving foam you have to stop every two seconds to wash the foam out of your shaver. It is also a lot quicker because you rinse your shaver less. After shaving my legs and under arms using blue gel I found them to be a lot smoother to the touch. The active ingredients Vitamin E, Tee Tree oil, Allantoin and Camomile have really worked to soften my skin. I also found that shaving with blue gel gives a closer shave and that I don’t need to re-shave the area as soon as after using shaving foam.
Extra Information
Blue gel is for use on all skin types including sensitive skin. I have extremely sensitive skin and have never had a rash or any type of irritation after using this product. The gel is for use with all types of blade razors but for maximum effectiveness it is advised that a sharp blade is used. This product is not tested on animals.
Cost
I paid 3 pounds 99 for 175ml of shaving gel. I bought this product at Sainsbury’s but have also bought it Asda, Tesco and Safeway.
Conclusion
On the whole I thought this product to be a lot better than Shaving foam, the smell, texture appearance and the quality of the shave are all so much better. The packaging could be improved but other than that the product is extremely good. I would defintiely recommend this to potential customers.

Advantages: Nice Aroma - Easy to use, and moisturising. Gives a smooth shave. Disadvantages: None that I noticed
I thought King of Shaves was just for men. Well, their web-site proved me wrong! I stumbled across them when looking up freebies (as one does). On their site they offer two sample packs, one for men and one for women! In it were samples of Woman Blu Shaving Gel and Woman Blu Shaving Oil. This opinion deals with the shaving gel only.
The manufacturers say this product has :-

The way to check the direction of hair growth is to run a finger up and down on the skin so that you can feel the direction of stubble/hair growth. If men shave with the grain, this usually means downwards on cheeks, chin and moustache area, and upwards on the neck. Ladies usually need to shave downwards on the front of ...

...with striving to become the king of grooming ops, I thought go for the queen too. Now there might be a few people out there that might be a bit skeptical about my ability to review a product for womens shaving, although I do have arms, legs and the potential for a bikini line (this conjures up very scary images for me and I’m sure it will make anyone who knows me shudder too) I have no desire whatsoever to shave them. There might be a slight confusion over the product title, King of Shaves as well as being a bit on the naff side (right up there with Toys’r’us) is a decidedly masculine company name but that’s only because it’s named after its founder, Will King. Will and his wife filled their first 10,000 bottles of shaving oil for men by hand in their bedroom and convinced Harrods ...

Advantages: moisturising, eseential oils, fragrance free, close shave Disadvantages: might be a bit pricey
The only thing that ruined the first days of my holiday were my legs! They were irriating me, itching, blotchy and sore. AS the weather was just right for a bikin you can imagine I wasn`t too chuffed.
So I made my way to Boots and discovered the miracle product "King of Shaves woman blu (bikin, legs and underarms)" The product claims to protect mositurise and soothe and it does just that! You just need to rub a small amount on the wet area you want ... ...The shaving gel has no added perfumes so the smell is natural and fresh. In the gel are microcapsules which burst as you rub them onto your skin. they release essential oils, so this lubricates the skin to prevent cuts.(which I used to suffer from a lot)The product also boasts active ingredients including vitamin E, Tea Tree oil, Alatoin and Chamomile so it really does your skin good. The thing I personally like about the gel is that it is clear ...

...of the latest ones being King of Shaves with their Blu for women range.
The Blu range consists of a shaving oil, express shaving spritz and the shaving gel. The range can vary in price, from £3 to £5 and can be found in most major supermarkets.
I, with my strong dislike of looking like an ape (if I go au naturelle), decided to try the shaving gel. It has essential oils that are suspended in little white micro capsules and it contains vitamin E, ... ...known for their soothing, caring effect on the skin. The gel sounded promising and I must admit I was very impressed with the results. It left the skin very soft and supple after use. It worked well on all areas with no irritation or red rashes (I'm usually covered in them after shaving). The low foam aspect of the gel was a bit disconcerting initially, but anything that helps prevent agonisig nicks is a good thing. The smell of the gel was fresh ...
