Disadvantages: Not widely available expect in Indian restaurants, expensive

...I decided to try some Kingfisher beer, which is so well prompted at most Indian restaurants.

My previous encounter with Kingfisher beer was at least ten years ago when I visited India. I remember back then I started having a beer called Haywards 2000 but that was way too strong for me and I finally settled on Kingfisher for the rest of my time over their. It was always served in large glass bottles back then and I presume its still ...

I thoroughly enjoyed Kingfisher that day and ended up consuming quite a bit. Naturally it has to be served chilled and I had to request the restaurant owners to stick six of them in the freezer for me, since I like all my beers ice cold and the draught was just not as cold as I like.

Kingfisher beer originated in India and is presently India's largest selling beer. It is made by United Breweries and was first brought into the ... more

...King facts !!! ****************************************************** Kingfisher traces its history back to 1915 when United Breweries was created out of 5 small breweries in South India. The beer was first distributed to customers in Bangalore, Chennai and in the Nilgiris. In 1980, Kingfisher was the first to launch canned beer and draught beer. The KINGfisher of Beers

Advantages: Good value on special deals
Disadvantages: Not so great if you have to pay premium prices

...happened upon 4-pack (330ml) of KINGFISHER beer for the knock-down price of £1.99. I grabbed those suckers quicker than a Jock slipping out the fire exit when it's his round at the bar, and toddled off home by myself (so I didn't have to share them). But enough of that, what about the beer? KINGFISHER is India's leading brand of premium lager with a share approaching 25% of the total beer market, it's the top-selling Indian lager in the UK and Europe, ...
...THE POUR ? Kingfisher pours to a very pale golden colour with lots of tiny bubbles rising to an off-white head - which lasts just about as long as it takes to read this phrase, before dissipating to a thin whisp which leaves no lace on the glass. There's a faint metallic aroma with a hint of sulphur (apparently, copper vats are used in the brewing process - sounds dodgy) but this soon fades to turn a little more fruity, with some light hops and traces ...

Review of Kingfisher Beer

A british version of a classic.

Advantages: A crisp, refreshing pale lager.
Disadvantages: Brewed in the UK under licence.

Kingfisher is an indian classic, widely drunk in the sub-continent, and here in the UK at a thousand indian restaurants. It is clean, crisp and refreshing and a close reflection of the indian original. But don't be mistaken when you're buying this in your local curry house. Unlike some premium beers, this beer hasn't come from India, In fact it hasn't travelled any further than Faversham in Kent. It is brewed here in the UK under licence by those ...

Our local takeaway

Advantages: Handy for home, generous portions, tasty, freebies!!
Disadvantages: A little pricey, food not the best I have had

When we moved to Swanage we were aware that we were going to a place that is small and lacked some of the shopping options of a larger town. this isn't a great problem as Poole and Boiurnemouth are not far away and I still go to them on a daily basis with my work. Thankfully there are still places to cater for those can't be bothered to cook days, great pub food, Chinese and a good curry house. There is no MacDonalds, which is no problem, there are several good chippies and the Masala Restaurant to satisfy my spicy cravings. Their prices reflect that this is a) a tourist area and b) one of the most expensive towns in the country to live in, outside of central London, thus a takeaway for two will cost £25, but we have not yet left there without at least one free dish, free papadoms and a handful of bottles of Kingfisher beer ...

Review of Masala Indian Restaurant, Swanage

the' jewel in the crown'? more a 'gem in a bottle'

Advantages: goes well with any food, low gas level
Disadvantages: stear clear of the draft version

This really is a remarkable beer with a remarkable ,although short, history. The company was formed by a retired English man who decided to stay on in India after a life long stay in the sub-continant where i believe he was first in the army then in business. Still (i believe) familly run Cobra beer has had an astounding rise to fame. Brewed with an unusual blend of grain and malt and with a lot less gas than similer beers it was designed to go well with Indian food and for a long time was only available in Indian resturents. About 10 years ago it had all but ousted Kingfisher and the other Indian restarunt beers when the owner made a huge mistake while being interviewed for in the curry restaurent trade paper, he commented that in his view service was sub-standard in curry houses in general, within a few weeks most indian ...

of the family at the helm. So three centuries after its foundation, Richard Marsh's brewery remains an independent family company, committed to its core activities of brewing and pub retailing.? [Abridged from the Company?s website: http://www.shepherd-neame.co.uk/company/history.html] As well as this label, Shepherd Neame is also responsible for a number of brand labels including Spitfire, Bishop?s Finger and Master Brew ? many of which are available on draught in inns and public houses in the South of England. It has an active ?brewed under licence? campaign including the production of Kingfisher Indian beer and Samuel Adams Boston Ale. THE BOTTLE 1698 Celebration Ale arrived in one of Shepherd Neame?s signature bottles. This is a rugged, square shouldered affair ? a half litre bottle that has the phrase ?Britain?s Oldest Brewer 1698 ...
