Manufacturer's product description

Kingston Technology's TurboChip 133 is a 5x86 CPU (Central Processing Unit) upgrade that upgrades a 486 DX2, DX, SX2 or SX system to a 5x86 clock-quadrupled processor technology. At 133MHZ, TurboChip 133 is rated at Pentium 75-Plus performance. TurboChip 133 features 16Kb internal cache, a built-in math coprocessor, and up to 33MHz external bus speed processing. TurboChip is a high-performance and convenient solution to increase a computer's performance 250% over its current 486 processing speed to provide the power necessary to run today's popular multi-tasking computing environment. TurboChip is a chip-for-chip replacement processor upgrade, which installs directly into the existing processor socket, or an Intel OverDrive Socket, if the original processor cannot be removed. Many 486 computers use ZIF (zero-insertion-force) sockets with a lever or retaining screw to make removing the CPU chip quick and easy. Kingston provides a PGA (Pin Guard Array) socket extension to use with certain types of ZIF sockets installations. TurboChip also uses a cooling fan to control TurboChips's operating temperature to ensure years of reliable performance.

good overclocker
Review of Intel Celeron 1 GHz processor by craigy

Advantages: good overclocker
Disadvantages: not as good as duron

...The Celeron has been around for a while now and, due to the fact that it is a cut-down version of the Pentium 3 that runs at a slower bus speed (66MHz for the Celeron compared to 100 MHz for the P3), with a little TLC and a lot of cooling, it can often be made to run at speeds far greater than the advertised values. In this respect, it is not as good as AMD's Duron processor (see my review of that for details), but for owners of BX boards, this can be a cheap upgrade (see your motherboard manufacturer's website for details of whether it will run Celerons), as all that is required is the CPU and a *decent* heatsink & fan, rather than a new processor and motherboard. For example, one of my machines currently has a celeron 600 (this runs a multiplier of 9 at the bus speed of 66MHz) running at 900 MHz (9 * 100MHz). This is a huge... Read review

Brilliant Motherboard
Review of Chaintech CT-6ATA2 by jcolton

Advantages: Temperature sensors, free software
Disadvantages: None

...I have a chaintech motherboard in my P3 system and it hs lots of good points to it: - Supports Intel Pentium II and Pentium III processors up to 733MHz Celeron 466MHz System clock 66/100/133MHz Slot 1 with convenient retention mechanism High efficiency switching power module There are temperature sensors on the board to keep you updated all the time about temps and fan speeds. It will take up to 768 MB of ram at speeds of 66/100/133MHz ram depending on the processors bus speed. It comes with a cd full of drivers and some free software like antivirus which is very helpfull.... Read review

Best performance to cost ratio
Review of AMD Duron by cjkace

Advantages: Cheap, great performance
Disadvantages: Runs hot, need new motherboard

...) VIA KT133A Second revision of the above but they changed the FSB setting to 133 so now you can run the processor bus at the same speed as the processor. Some makes of this board will easily manage 150Mhz with adequate cooling. To be able to use a Duron on this chipset you will need to unlock the multiplier so that you can set it lower. Example - Duron 750Mhz On a 100Mhz FSB = 7.5 x 100 = 750 On a 133Mhz FSB = 6.0 x 133 = 798 (easily attainable) If you don't unlock the processor then you run the risk of destroying the processor. Most Durons can run on a 133Mhz FSB, although AMD will soon be selling approved 133Mhz chips based on the Morgan core. VIA KM133 Same as above but includes onboard graphics. Good for office machines but don't touch one if you are into games. Other chipsets by VIA and Ali have been developed offering double data... Read review
