The programme includes an extensive distribution system that enables re-selling rights to many networks, that is internationally acclaimed.
- The birth of Kingston
Kingston Technology was born out of a severe shortage of surface-mount memory chips in the high-tech marketplace in the 1980s, at the time, many data storage businesses started. The founders, John Tu and David Sun were determined to find a data storage solution. They both put their engineering backgrounds to work and created the new 'Single In-Line Memory Module' (SIMM) it was exciting times for the new data storage company and the SIMM was where they embarked on making the fortunes'

-I welcome you to the Data Traveler USB Flash Drive 8 GB
- What is an USB? - USB - Stands for Universal Serial Bus - This is a standard port for computer components to be connected using a single standardised interface socket. Every computer has these ports to improve plug-and-play capabilities by allowing devices to be connected and disconnected without restarting the computer, therefore saving time and losing any information through the rebooting process. USB ports are used by external devices such as digital camera's, printers, hubs, extra storage/CD/DVD drives etc.
- What to expect with the portable USB Flash Drive 8GB - The external portable drive is also known as a key or a stick as seen above in the title. The length is 2 inches long with a socket at the end which goes into the USB port/hub on your PC. The PC recognises this device as an external device and when slotted in as a driver the PC will display the external drive. When clicking on the drive (which is extra storage) the drive which the PC will identitify it as DRIVE E, or DRIVE F or DRIVE G or even DRIVE H ; depending on how many drives your computer is running simultaneously. What is also useful when you have no other USB ports available on your PC is to get an extended port hub, the extended hub costs around 7.00 GBP. Many older brands of PC do not have as many ports as newer PC models.
- USB Portable Drive - The Kingston is the same size as a butter-knife and is smaller than many other Flash Drive brands. The 8GB memory capacity has been available for 9 months (retail); it has been used mostly for transferring uncompressed media files. It is a very valuable tool when sending data to different locations or moving to via many workstations.
- Flash memory - The Flash Drive 'memory ' is a method of storage speed. This particular drive works twice as fast as a lower spec memory drive. It reads at a transfer rate of 28MB's per second and that is halved when transfering data from the key to another workstation. However, the USB key can communicate from different digital components -- such as MP3 Players -- Digital Cameras -- Handsets -- and most digital devices. The speed won't be noticeable unless you are transferring a file of over 256MB; then the speed of transferring would be an issue. Flash memory facilities are a lot cheaper than other memory systems such as EECOM products. Flash Memory is still relatively new and has already made an impact on memory storage methods.
- Price - The Data Traveler flash memory key for 8GB is £19.99 (retail)-- 6/10 value for money. It is worth a shop around as these types of storage memory components have always got a deal on. The price was a little more due to Dell's (UK) VAT and Postage and Packaging fees.
-Overal verdict- A simplestic piece of hardware that is impossible to not fathom out straightaway. It does take a while to get use to by using the slider, however, it certainly is a clever protector for the pin USB connector. The 8GB of capacity space stores many more media files, like hi-definition WAVS and MP3 sound files AVI files MP4 files for mobile content such as video and film clips, can be stored without any file compression requirements. Compatible for cross purpose platforms PC/Mac - or on Laptops.

Review of Kingston DataTraveler I - USB flash drive - 8 GB
Advantages: User friendly, plug and play so no need for drivers Disadvantages: cap can go AWOL if not careful
Kingston are well known for good quality devices and there ‘Data Traveller’ is no exception.
I have been using this, together with many other pen drive (aka flash drives) for quite some time now, basically because they are so easy to transport from place to place rather than carting CD/DVDs around, or even an external hard drive.
The good thing about pen drives is that you can carry what you need, no more, no less.
==** WHAT IS THE DATA TRAVELLER..?==
... ...to PC, and the 8GB Kingston traveller is no exception. This lovely little white unit can hold thousands of images, hundreds of music files and many many videos files so you can transfer them from PC to PC, and as it is ‘plug and play’ you know it will work in any PC without the need for drivers.
Using it is just so simple that even my good old grannie has no trouble with it, she likes to keep all her photographs and family videos on hers, (she is ...

Advantages: Fast Disadvantages: Cant Think of any!!
...USB 2.0 speeds, it's plenty fast enough to do all the things I bought it for. It hasn't let me down & has handled every type of file I've stored on it - I've even installed programs from it. Kingston Technology has done it again, amazing storage device, highly recommended. ...

Review of Kingston DataTraveler I - USB flash drive - 8 GB
Advantages: 8GB space, robust, good value Disadvantages: not the quickest
This is a solid piece of kit. I've had mine for at least 2 years and it still works perfectly. It's small and light and the cap stays on when you put it on - which is more than can be said for some of the other brands. At the current price for 8GB, it's also very affordable. The transfer speed is sufficiently fast, but if you are transferring a lot of small files which add up to a few GB in one go, it can take quite a long time - e.g. 15 minutes. ... ...taken up by the usual stuff, so you won't get exactly 8GB, more like 7.7GB. Once you plug it in, it's very easy to use, either in XP / Vista or a MAC. It automatically loads up. The activity light is surprisingly useful as well, as you can tell when it is not safe to remove it - nevermind what Vista tells you - as long as the light remains off for a few seconds, it should be fine. Overall great value for money. ...

Advantages: Very fast transfer rate, strong, looks good, smells pretty Disadvantages: None
Finally - a USB flash drive worth raving about!
Being a photographer, I use flash drives a lot - usually to carry pretty big Photoshop files around. I saw this one on DVD.co.uk (also highly recommended) and thought I'd give it a go. I'm very glad I did!
I was instantly impressed with this one - as well as looking funky it's made very well (by a brand you can trust!). It feels like it withstand quite a punishment at the bottom of my camera case, ... ...great for my needs - I can easily move around large files from home to laptop, customer's houses and university.
The cap fits on the end like a pen's cap does - this is more handy than it sounds! Putting the cap on the end seriously reduces the chances of losing it!
The transfer rate is where this Datatraveler really shines though - blisteringly fast! So much quicker than my old USB key in fact that I've decided to use that for other things (playing ...
