You probably own a device of some sort that requires a flash memory card of some sort and more than likely its an SD (Secure Digital) style card. For a few years now SD memory cards have been one of the most popular methods of storage for digital cameras and some mobile phones. However, as all technology shrinks down, unfortunately so do the memory cards. Therefore a lot of of new phones require a "Micro" or "Mini" SD card. Sounds ok but does that mean your existing card reader (That takes standard SD types of card) is now obsolete? No, not at all! The clever bods over at Kingston decided that they could make their new Micro SD cards backwards compatible for standard and Mini SD sizes by selling them with a pair of handy adapters. Yes, when you buy the Kingston Micro SD, the card itself will fit into all of your Micro SD powered devices (even though they are too small in my opinion) as well as easily fitting into the supplied adapter and then into your Laptop Card reader. Its a great way to only need 1 SD card but yet have lots of applications for it.
The storage of my particular Micro SD cards is 2Gb. That is a huge amount of storage for a flash card and will allow you to take up to 1200 good sized pictures on my new 8 Megapixel Camera. It can also hold other types of recorded media and doubles up as place to store music on my MP3 Player that takes Mini SD courtesy of the adapter. My other Mini SD is permanently stored inside my XDA Orbit mobile phone from O2. This is a real pain to fit as it sits under the phone Sim. So to take the card in and out, you need to remove the battery, then the sim and then finally unclip the Micro SD. In this context, the card is so small that it makes fitting it a real pain. However the large storage means i can store and run large memory hungry programs on my phone such as TomTom with no problems and still have room for photographs!
The 2 adapters you get with this card come in a handy hard plastic transparent carry case that is just about big enough that you wont lose it. Really without this case the adapters would be misplaced and lost immediately. A great way to keep them safe. There is also a space for the Micro SD card itself for safe keeping when not in use.
Pricing is fantastic for this card. Its under £20 now and considering you are basically able to replace 3 cards with one, its a good investment. Even if you dont own a micro SD card device, buy one this size for when you do need to use one. That way you can always use it in your existing Standard SD device until such time you need to downsize! Not only that but you are getting the ultra reliable Kingston storage that is recognised throughout the IT world as the specialists of Memory and RAM manufacturing. If you need the best, always opt for Kingston!
Overall im pretty impressed by this card. It serves many applications in my world and has the flexibility to cope in all my SD required devices. Hats off for inventing the adapters! Lifesavers!
