I love photography and have always had a digital camera since they have been out because there is nothing better to me than the memories of a good time. I love to take a lot of photos and used to have a Kodak memory card but even at 106 pictures this didn't seem like enough anymore as I want to travel a lot next year and seem to be taking lots of photos at once and on nights out can take up to 70 easily. This is when I started to think that I may want a newer memory card and I have also noticed they're not even really that expensive anymore. I have the Kodak Z650 which I have reviewed in the past and the internal memory is roughly anything between 15-30 images which is very poor for a camera like that but I'm guessing they assume you'll buy a memory card.
I was looking around at different sizes of memory cards and looked at other brands like Kodak and so on but the Kingston ones seemed to be coming up a lot in my searches and I had heard of them before for USB drives and they seem to have a good name behind them. Their memory cards come in all sizes from 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and the one I have 512MB which is probably one of the smallest but it is fine for me for now.
Most Kodak cameras will accept an SD card but there are other types as you will see when you go to print off your photos. On the side of my camera is a door and there is a slot for the camera where you just click in your SD card and then the memory mounts up instantly. I also know that my laptop is SD compatible and so I just slide the card into the slot at the side and then my photos load up without the hassle of a USB cable. I know most Dell laptops come with this slot and I have a Sony Vaio so I'm guessing most of those do too.
With a memory card it is easy to use you insert it and on my camera it goes from about 20 photos to 268 as soon as the card goes in which for me right now is more than enough pictures. It just means I don't need to delete too many and can do that later with having more space. At anytime you want you can just go to internal memory or switch back to memory card. The thing is with photos stored on your memory card you can print them off and delete them and so on easily.
The SD cards like most memory cards are quite small about 3cm x 2cm big but if you just keep it in your camera most of the time then you shouldn't really lose it. My card is a small rectangle shape and on the top right corner it is cut off to be slanted. The label on it is of the sea, a landscape view and over this is the white text saying Kingston 512MB. There is also a little arrow on the card which makes it obvious which way you insert the card into your equipment.
As said above this card can be inserted into all photo printing machines which makes taking pictures easy because you no longer have to wait a day to get photos back worrying about damaged negative. As soon as the card is inserted it tells you how many photos are on the card, you can then view each individually and edit them. You also choose how many of each photo you want and the size. You can also delete photos after they have been printed to save up space.
The good thing is once the photos are on your memory card you can give others the memory card to borrow if they want to print photos off. A thing I have also recently figured out is that if you have saved photos from people's albums on say Facebook, you can drag these onto your memory card when it is in your laptop and any jpeg files onto your memory card and get them printed off to. This means that once a photo is deleted off your card that doesn't end the possibility of it being able to get printed off because if it is still on your PC you can just open the memory card folder and drag your desired picture back onto the card to get it printed.
The price of these cards has dropped phenomenally, a few years ago for a 256MB card which is only 100 pictures I was paying £25 but for this 512MB card for 250 pictures more I only paid £7.90.
This card can be bought here at http://www.ukdigital.co.uk. However I have noticed Amazon selling 2GB cards at £4.28 which is an even better deal.
For now 512MB is fine for me but no doubt next summer when I decide to travel it'll only cost me a few pounds to upgrade to gigabytes easily

...cards, and in my opinion Kingston are one of the better makes. Most cameras come with a small 16mb card just to get you started, but you will soon want to upgrade to a couple of bigger ones I am sure. You can either download your images direct to your PC, or take the card into your local Max Spielman* and have them printed while you wait. You have the option of sending the cards through the post, to someone without a PC so they can go to Speilman's ... ...has a website with some nice pictures, plus some very useful information, however it is down at the moment.:-

Advantages: 2gb space, secure files Disadvantages: may not work if improperly inserted
The combined Kingston SDC/2GB-2ADP Micro SecureDigital2048MB with the small, medium and large memories in one package is just the perfect solution for all your digital storage. I say so because with the 3 memory cards, there's no electronic that will require you to use a memory stick and you don't have. This is a must have product and with the 2GB storage they have, makes it just a good thing to have. It is always advisable to have them at all times and this helps a million times for persons that love to have their digital materials stored. I love this package. Advantages: Lots of flexibility with devices Disadvantages: Micro Size can be a bit fiddly
You probably own a device of some sort that requires a flash memory card of some sort and more than likely its an SD (SecureDigital) style card. For a few years now SD memory cards have been one of the most popular methods of storage for digital cameras and some mobile phones. However, as all technology shrinks down, unfortunately so do the memory cards. Therefore a lot of of new phones require a "Micro" or "Mini" SD card.
Sounds ok but does that mean your existing card reader (That takes standard SD types of card) is now obsolete?
No, not at all!
The clever bods over at Kingston decided that they could make their new Micro SD cards backwards compatible for standard and Mini SD sizes by selling them with a pair of handy adapters.
Yes, when you buy the Kingston Micro SD, the card itself will fit into all of your Micro SD powered ...
Advantages: Carry Case, adapters, storage space, speed, Disadvantages: Small and fiddly
Most people have devices such as digital cameras or mobile phones today that require additional memory. This normally comes in the shape of a memory card. While there are a few options around, one of the most popular over recent years has been the SD card style.
However, with all modern technology, they strive to make things smaller and smaller. Enter the Micro SD card!
My Micro SD card was required by my XDA Orbit phone. Looking at the size of the opening in my phone, one thing struck me about the card required. It was going to be small and fiddly. That is exactly what it is. Small and fiddly to handle. You need to be very careful not to lose it as it weighs very little and its also very thin and fragile. However, the option that comes from Kingston helps you out with a handy carry case for when it is not being used.
The clear ...
