I have had a lot to do with memory in the past, and so I am in a good possition to tell you a bit about what you are actually buying with your hard cash!
First off I will get the terms out of the way;
SO DIMM 200-pin: This basically means that it is smaller than DIMM memory and is therefore used in laptops alot, the 200-pin just tells the buyer how many contacts the memory has and so this must match the plug or it wont fit nor work in the computer.
DDR SDRAM: Short for Double Data Rate-Synchronous DRAM, this means that this type of memory allows twice as much data to be transfered then normal DRAM. DDR SDRAM also uses less power and so is great for laptops.
1Gb: This is just the size, all you really need to know about this is that the bigger the number, the more data can be stored on it and so the programs that you run will in turn run faster and smoother with a large RAM card.
Right now that is out of the way I can get onto telling you about this card, I recently bought one of these RAMcards for £130.00 which might seem expensive but im not complaining because since it's installation I have noticed that my computer is again extreamly fast (RAM is not the be-all and end-all of speed it is just a part of it, other components that improve speed are a fast processor, fast harddrive and a number of others) and I have had no problems what so ever with this component, it is great and well worth the money.
I would recommend that this product sould be bought by anyone wanting a desent RAM card for there computer
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
Good explaining of the terms, I'm sure your newbie tech will appreciate, but what about the actual stick? What are the quoted memory timings? How low can you get the CAS latency? What heatsinks (if any) are on the RAM. £130... I think you got a bad deal :( You can pick up quality Kingston SO-DIMMs from £40....

Much more detail on the product required hence the lower rating if you edit this review please leave a message in my guestbook and I will take another look and consider re-rating.................................*sam*
