Memory is one of the easiest upgrades anyone can do and will greatly affect the performance of your PC. I have had one of these in my PC since day one and it's been working fine. I am also considering upgrading and getting another one, not sure yet though. In my previous PC I used to have crucial memory and that was quite good too, I don't think there's much difference between them maybe crucial has slightly better performance but it's hard to pin point.
The Kingston memory allows me to run applications simultaneously without any glitches or crashes. I use Adobe Photoshop and Audition quite a lot and it seems to be able to handle them very well. As a test I've run both programs together performing tasks and it's coped with them. So proves it will handle powerful programs well.
Main features and functions from box: - General Data Integrity Check ECC Features Registered Memory - Supply Voltage +1.8, +3.3, +5, +12V RAM - Memory Speed 400MHz RAM - Storage Capacity 2GB RAM CAS Latency ( tCL ) CL3 RAM Form Factor DIMM 240-pin RAM - Module Configuration 256 x 72 - RAM Technology DDR2 SDRAM - RAM Type DRAM - Slot(s) required 1 x memory - DIMM 240-pin - Lifetime warranty
The memory design is the same as any memory and the code will correspond to type of motherboard you have so make sure you get the right one. It's simple to install and you shouldn't really come across any problems installing the memory the instructions are provided and it's quick and simple.
Once memory is installed turn on your PC and the BIOS will recognise straight away. Just look out for it on the main black screen which appears when you start up you PC. If you miss it then just simply check it out in Windows settings under memory and make sure it is showing what you just installed e.g. DRAM 2 GB.
Overall the Kingston DRAM 2 GB PC2-3200 is worth it and a good memory to have. I still don't think it's as good a crucial memory but is much cheaper. So basically you get what you pay for and it does the job. I haven't had any problems with it. It costs around £50.
