I have had a few digital camera's over the last few years,The first one I bought was in 1997,and in those early days of digital camera's the preferred method of extra memory storage came in two main catorgagories
Compactflash and Smartmedia
Both of these cards are quite bulky compared to todays other otions eg sd or mmc .
My first camera used compactflash card memort I think it was 16mb built in and an expansion slot to basically double it,which I did.It was'nt cheap then about 35 quid as I remember.
But the megapixal camera was a few months away so the
640 x 480 outout of this camera did'nt require todays large capacity cards.
Kingstom cf cards have always been my first choice of card
after having tried a few generic ones and finding they do not always read/write consistanly quickly enough to deliver the results Kingston cf cards do.
I have read the Kingston blurb on there compact cards but its way over my head
"Kingston offers users a standard line of CompactFlash memory using Multi Level Cell (MLC) technology"
I have;nt got a clue what all this means, but I do Know I have a selection of different mb Kingstone cf cards some dating back to 1997 and they are all still working.
The bonus is the price of these cards has dropped as larger capacity cards become more popular {I think aKingston 2gb card is now available} but my trusty 2002 model Kodak is easily
satisfied with a 128mb card

I read/hear there are 8GB CF cards nowadays. Don't know who makes them but they cost a fortune. I've not bought any Kingston memory but hear they're pretty good. Hear their RAM's pretty good too.
