A Hello from Germany,

I'm an active writer of reviews at Ciao-Germany. This is my first review in English. So please forgive my mistakes or help to correct them. I'm here to practice my English, because my boyfriend live in Malta and we communicate in English.

In Malta they have a special Soft drink – KINNIE

If you have been on Malta for vacation, you may know what I'm writing about.

As I already wrote … Kinnie is a soft drink. Produced by Simonds Farsons Cisk in Malta. They wanted to make a alternative to other Soft drinks like Cola, Fanta,…
The Idea was to take the bitter oranges they have on this island and some herbs.

And I can say .. the taste is really great!! Especially in summer it's very refreshing. The taste is herb, bitter and sweet. The colour is amber-brown.

You'd like to taste it too??
Than there are 2 possibilities:
1.) You could plan vacations on Malta. It's a wonderful island and the best taste you'll have in the hot summer sun.
2.) Or you order some bottles. On the Kinnie website are a Address for ordering Kinnie in GB. (but I don't know how expensive it is)

In Malta you'll get Kinnie in bottles all size. Also a diet Kinnie is available. I never tried to order the bottles here in Germany. So I can not tell you any experience about.

I love this soft drink very much. Of course very cold than. In summer I prefer to drink Kinnie than sweet Cola.
Also great is Kinnie for Cocktails. Here one example:

Victor Camilleri

Long glass
1/5 Gin
1/5 Vermouth (red)
3/5 Kinnie
Ice cubes
Slice of Orange

I hope you got a little impression about Kinnie with my review. Also I hope that you'll have the opportunity to taste it.

However .. we can see how nice it is to visit other countries and other cultures, because we can always find something new.

Sia

Quick review of Kinnie
Review of Kinnie by Plutarch

I recently visited Malta for the first time and was recommended to try the local alternative to Cola. Not being particularly fond of Cola I gave Kinnie a try and was most pleasantly surprised. I can best describe the taste as liquid seville orange marmalade. It has a bitter sweet taste which goes down well in the Mediterranean climate and as well as being enjoyed on its own can be made up into a cocktail drink by adding ice,a slice of orange or lemon and a measure of dark rum. I am surprised that it is not well known outside Malta as I would find it a most welcome alternative to usual the sickly sweet Cola concoction. Would there be any chance of it becoming available throughout Europe?

Kinnie has an er distinctive taste it is far to say. The other product you mentioned Cisk is an excellent lager. You can get Cisk in this country with details on the the Farsons.com/uk website. Cisk has a distinctive Mediterranean flavour and you can also detect the British influence. I would suggest a hint of lemon in Cisk. It is also quite light without being too fizzy or gassy. It tastes pretty good.
