Advantages: Plays all the content and file types you can throw at it Disadvantages: Plenty of bugs, little firmware updates and the Online Extras are useless
...I have owned the KissDP-600 player since the day it came out. So far it has not failed to play a media type thrown at it. Unfortunatly Kiss have only released a few firmware updates. The player is still full of Bugs.
For example - *a Green screen when the player turns on
*Difficulty in Upgrading and Downgrading Firmware
*HDMI issues still (my HDMI decided it would stop working)
*Access speeds from USB port to an External usb HDD make high definition content on the hard disk pretty much unplayable.
*Power off feature doesnt always switch to full standby more like a hibernate mote
Dispite a couple of firmware updates to do not think Kiss have taken their time with this product. In my opinion this is now very over priced for its age. And looking around you can buy HD media player which is more up to date than the Kiss 600...

Advantages: Widescreen, Built-in TV Tuner, Hangs on Wall Disadvantages: No scart, odd widescreen aspect ratio
...When I bought my PC last year, I asked for the standard LCD monitor that came with it to be replaced by the Kiss Coolview Monitor.
This is a genuinely cool piece of kit.
Its widescreen for starters. Anyone who's read my camcorder review will know how I love widescreen.
It's got a built in TV Tuner which handles a whole load of different standards; PAL, NTSC, Secam etc and of course you can hook it up to your PC via the RGB input. It also has S-Video and composite inputs.
I've only used it as a TV on the odd occasion.
I don't get a very good TV signal in my study so I don't bother but it's nice to know that when one day in the future I get myself a wireless video transmitter/receiver I'll be able to get a decent signal. (I like to think ahead when I'm buying my gadgets)
Not everyone will have heard of Kiss, but they are...

Advantages: divx, pc connectivity (wired and wireless) Disadvantages: operating system sometimes clunky
...For all its foibles (and for all the neckache I got from my missus for buying it), I still rate this player. It really comes into it's own if you've large media collection on your PC (mp3, divx, photos etc), but don't want a computer sat in the corner of your living room.
A couple of recommendations straight off - if you want to use it with wifi make sure you get a card recommended by KISS, as not all are compatble (only runs on 802.11b)
Secondly invest in EZlink (google search for this) - its a piece of third party software which allows you to connect your PC to the player. It's head and shoulders above the free KISS PClink that is available as a download from the KISS site.
Finally, download the latest firmware from the site.
As I said the thing has it's little idiosyncracies - it does crash sometimes, and doesnt recognise all...
