Having just eaten a Kit Kat Chunky Caramel it seems I'm eating these in the wrong order, but the Kit Kat chunky is another of the now rather extended Kit Kat brand chocolate bars by Nestle. The idea of a “chunky” Kit Kat is that it's thicker than a normal one with much more wafer in the centre making up the vast part of it's bulk. The bar looks more like a Yorkie than a typical 2 (or 4) finger Kit Kat in general shape though it keeps the red of the Kit Kat we all know and love, the Kit Kat logo and the Kit Kat biscuit formula.
Nutritional Information (per 50g bar) 261 Calories 3.1g Protein 31.6g Carbohydrates 13.4g Fat
Sorry for putting that so early into the review but with Kit Kats (and Nestle in general) not having the treat wise guide on them, it's actually a struggle to read the nutrition details due to the fact I'm coloured blind and all the colours seemed to merge together. Nestle sort it out.
Upon opening the bar we get to see a thick chocolate bar with the infamous KitKat logo on it, and already we know what to expect, it's common sense to know, it's going to be a Kit Kat on Steroids, thick and beautiful. Upon on biting into the bar you remember why we all love Kit Kats their fresh wafer taste and the chocolate that goes so well with it. Oddly despite not being a fan of Nestle chocolate on it's own, I think Nestle put extra effort into the chocolate used on the Kit Kats for some bizarre reason. The bar is chewy, sweet, crunchy and rather filling (though remember I have just eaten a Caramel version of the same bar so maybe 2 Kit Kat Chunky's is just a bit too much). The chocolate is smooth and and sweet, the wafer is fresh and snappy and the product as a whole is gorgeous.
Though having had the caramel one just minutes ago that was personally better, the caramel just tasted amazing in it, however it's almost impossible to criticise this as it's not got a flaw it's just it's sister product went that little bit further. So perhaps this lacks a little something, though of course just doing a caramel version would be ridiculous, those who don't like caramel would have to miss out on a complete beauty of a chocolate bar. Kit Kat fans have now found the monster they've been waiting for, with almost an inch of solid wafer in the bar and at around 6 inches longer (no, no dirty ideas) the bar is filling (ok I put my foot in it there) and will fill any holes in you (in your appetite). For the man (or woman) on the go this is an ideal filler as you get from A to B and at 40p or so it's not bad value (Morrison's are doing 3 Kit Kats products for Ł1 at the time of writing as well).
Overall the product is like a Kit Kat that ate too much wafer, put on a load of bulk and like a nice juice steak, got better as it got bigger. I'm hoping the same applies to me the way I'm going through bigger chocolate bars recently I'm going to look like a sumo wrestler if it carries on. Yeah you could complain about the fat content but lets be honest the product is worth it, you're not going to sit there eating bar after bar (you couldn't possibly do it, they are just too filling for more than 3 at a time). With it's sister standing as the perfect Caramel bar, I guess it's only fair to declare this the perfect Wafer bar.
