Chocolate and mint go together perfectly, think After Eights, think Mint Matchsticks, etc etc and now there are Mint Kit Kat’s to add to the mix!
According to an article I read, Mentha (mint) is a genus of about 25 species (and many hundreds of varieties) of flowering plants in the family Lamiaceae (Mint Family). Mint is very aromatic, the leaves have a pleasant warm, fresh, aromatic, sweet flavor with a cool aftertaste and so are used in a vast number of products including teas, toothpastes, deserts and of course chocolate.
Mint chocolate is created is when mint flavoring, such as peppermint, spearmint, or crčme de menthe, is added to plain chocolate.
Kit Kat originals have been around sine 1935 when they were first created by Rowntree's of York, England. The mint Kit Kat is now a permanent flavour in the UK which is great as I love it. It is sold in the two finger variety.
Kit Kat's are one of my favourite chocolate biscuits. They consist of two or four fingers of crispy wafer with layers of crčme covered in an amazing layer of Nestle chocolate. The fingers are welded together by the layer of chocolate but you can snap them apart and eat each finger separately if you wish or just bite into the whole thing. I much prefer to break each finger apart and nibble around the edge of the chocolate, yummy. I love all the different varieties they have come out with such as the orange flavour, the peanut butter flavour and even the chunky versions although I do prefer the smaller Kit Kat’s to the bigger Kit Kat’s.
A Kit Kat mint is basically the same as a regular Kit Kat except for the fact that the chocolate layer covering the biscuit is a lovely mint flavour. In fact, when you first open the wrapping you are hit by the lovely fragrant smell of mint. When you actually taste the chocolate it has a nice flavour to it without being overpowering. The creme filling as always is lovely and sweet without being too sickly and the wafer is always nice and crisp and light.
The packaging of this bar is much the same as a regular Kit Kat except for the fact that the wrapper is partly green with a picture of a mint leaf on it so you cannot mistake it for a regular Kit Kat.
The great thing about this chocolate bar is the amount of calories. There are only 107 in a two finger Kit Kat mint bar which in my opinion makes it a very tasty, guilt free chocolate snack!
