Review summary
An excellent product that is well produced and at a good price The attachements and tool are great and it is quite easy to use

I have recently fallen in love with baking all over again. I used to love cooking, baking especially but just fell out of the habit of making things from scratch, which was until quite recently when I decided to have a go again, I think things on TV like the ‘Great British Bake Off’ made me realise that I loved it. I brought myself a few new utensils and items and one of these included a Kitchen Craft Cake and Biscuit Icing set. I used to ice with the disposable bag and wilton nozzles but this kit had slightly smaller nozzles included in it and for a good price so I was soon making a purchase and looking forward to using it.

The set that I brought was from the Range store, it was priced at a reduced price of £4.99, and this was a half price offer also at full price you are looking at paying just over the £10.00 mark. The set is also available on the Amazon website and I am sure I have seen it in other high street stores.

The set comes all packaged together well and compact in a really study plastic box. The set comprises the main piping gun and a number of different nozzles. All of these parts can be put in the dishwasher but I prefer to wash by hand, especially the nozzles as I find they are quite intricate and need all of the icing to be removed from them.

The piping gun is made from stainless steel with a black plastic handle. The nozzles slot onto the end and click into place, I have never suffered any issues where one falls off or does not connect with the main body of the gun. The handle which you need move back and forward to be able to operate the icing is quite tight to begin with but you soon get the hang of it. The gun holds the barrel which you need to put your icing into and it unscrews at both ends, it was a little fiddly when I first started using the gun but like anything you soon get used to the technique.

In my kit there are a number of different nozzles, I find the ones with the thicker opening are great for butter cream icing on cupcakes whereas the finer nozzles allow you to do more intricate detail on biscuits, I have used most of the nozzles now, I guess I just wanted to give them all ago and have a play with them to find out those that work best and they are all of great quality. I have found different tricks for most and so when I did question if I would use all of them I am pleased to say that I have!

When you first use it, you need to be careful of the air bubbles that get trapped in there, you need to press the level down on the gun to get them out and when I first did this I did it a little to quickly and shot icing across my kitchen so be warned!

In summary, this is a great tool to have and makes my icing easy, pain free and also not that messy at all, it is easy to clean and helps make baking fun again.
