Advantages: solid, reliable, great capacity, tackles ice cubes, looks fantastic! Disadvantages: you have to hold the top down a bit to avoid splashes

My friend became obsessed with making smoothies, soups and sorbets. The weight fell off her. She looked healthy and fit. Since then I've converted a couple more people into paying the extra for this baby - my own has worked like a dream for the last 4 years. I reckon I would have got through another 3 cheapo ones by now. It handles ice as easily ... ...and has me coveting the Kitchen Aid food processor thing which matches it. It'll be a long time before I can afford that. though!
Best Easy Smoothie
2 bananas, roughly chopped
about 12 strawberries, halved
an individual yogurt, flavour up to you, though vanilla and red-fruit ones are best
a splash of cranberry juice
whiz it all up on speed no 2, for about 2 mins. Delicious!
