Smart, but don't spill anything ! Advantages: Easy to use Disadvantages: Cleaning nooks and crannies difficult I have recently installed a new kitchen, with help from family members, one who is a retired chippy, and another who is a sparky. I have got black granit worktops and wanted a smart looking, functional, and mainly cheap, hob that would match. The prices on these vairy so much. After much searching I ended up paying £249 for this hob from Comet. It is mainly black with a stainless steel trim, a large and small ring along the back and a large and ... ...the right hand side. It measures 504 x 574 x 48 cm. When installing the hob, there is not much room for error, the hole has to be exact, or the hob will fall straight through the worktop. This is when my handy 'chippy' relative came into play ! When using the appliance, an excellent feature is the fact that there is a warning light on the front of the hob that stays on untill the ring that was in use has cooled down. Stoves 600CTH - PCB packed in after 3 years Advantages: Looks good and is easy to clean Disadvantages: Hasn't lasted, major delay on replacement PCB part We bought our Stoves Touch Control Frameless ceramic hob 3 years ago and the PCB has gone. Stoves said it would cost either £250 to fix or we could take an insurance policy that was £100 cheaper and it would cover the cost of the part being fixed and we'd also have a warranty for a year. We took the policy believing this to be a good deal. But part due to come in Jan and has stilll not arrived and it is March. It works how? Advantages: stylish unobtrusive design Disadvantages: exploding pans NEFF induction Hob Firstly you should realise you may have to change all your pans! Cast iron is fine as is iron and certain stainless steels. We have been using this hob for nearly 2 years and have had no problems with it in that time. It was simple to fit and was working in about 20 minutes. Touch sensitive controls are excellent though on occassion you may inadvertantly turn rings on by brushing your finger past. The hob induces heat into ... ...a baking tray on the hob switching it on and in a bout 10 seconds the tray is glowing red hot, removing it with a cloth and placing my hand flat on the hob where it was. It still amazes me everyday how it works. Practically it is very simple to use, it cleans very easily and looks stunning. Baumatic B24, The Agony and the Ectasy Advantages: Induction is a great technology, safe, clean,fast Disadvantages: Worked for less than 3 months, no warranty in Ireland. ...The BAD NEWS: The Baumatic B24 worked flawlessly for 12 weeks, then the main ring failed. then the residual heat "h" display started flickering then the cooling fan would came on for hours on end then we started getting a burning smell. IT HAS SELF DESTRUCTED!! Advantages: Beautiful & stylish Disadvantages: Difficult to keep clean. Unusable after a week of use! This hob looks very stylish and trendy and expensive... its gorgeous! Wasn't too expensive either. It Ignites well and has lovely easy to use knobs. It almost looks like an induction plate, shiny black glass. Unfortunately the downsides are too important to ignore! We have found it hateful to keep clean, we have had to use hot soapy water immediately after use and then a soft cloth & glass cleaner otherwise it looks terrible!
