Baumatic Hob B68ss Advantages: Easy to clean, very functional, solid hard wearing cast iron pan stands Disadvantages: None I bought this hob in February 2007 and my kitchen fitter fitted it with no problems except he said the electric cable (for the electronic ignition) wasn't very long. It is very easy to use with the ignition being automatic when you turn the knobs. The gas flame is very controllable, from a minium size flame to, what seems, a very powerful flame. There are two medium size gas burners, a small one, a large one and a wok burner. I tend to use the small ... ...frying pan the medium burner is fine. The wok burner is excellent. The cast iron pan stands are very solid and hard wearing gives the hob an impressive look. All parts come off quickly and it is very easy to keep clean. A good, stylish, easy to clean hob Advantages: Good performance, easy to use and clean Disadvantages: Scratches quite easily I have had this gas hob for a year and have always been happy with it. It has a brushed stainless steel finish and four separate burners. It has black knobs on the right hand side to control each burner, and you press a knob down for the ignition. The front left hob is larger than the others, for bigger pans or a wok. Apart from the large burner which is always quite hot, the other burners can go as hot or as cool as you like which is useful. The ... ...the pans sit on lift off, as do the covers for each burner. Although I have only had it a year, the hob has several scratches so you do need to be careful of the finish to keep it looking good. IT HAS SELF DESTRUCTED!! Advantages: Beautiful & stylish Disadvantages: Difficult to keep clean. Unusable after a week of use! This hob looks very stylish and trendy and expensive... its gorgeous! Wasn't too expensive either. It Ignites well and has lovely easy to use knobs. It almost looks like an induction plate, shiny black glass. Unfortunately the downsides are too important to ignore! We have found it hateful to keep clean, we have had to use hot soapy water immediately after use and then a soft cloth & glass cleaner otherwise it looks terrible! "Stoves S5-G700" gas hob - easy to use, go for the enamel version Advantages: Five well spaced burners, easy-to-use controls Disadvantages: Burner bodies mark easily This is a good solid easy-to-use hob. After nine months of use we haven't had any problems with its operation or use. It has a good selection of burners, including a "double-ring" wok burner. The control knobs are well placed and clearly marked. However, we went for the stainless steel version. To keep it looking good you have to clean and dry it after every cooking session. Definitely not a NAFF hob! Advantages: Sleek looks, good safety features, good quality Disadvantages: Unresponsive buttons When it comes to cooking I am usually a fan of gas hobs. I like to move pans around a lot when cooking to make sure that food doe not stick. With gas hobs there are nice strong metal supports for the pans to rest on and you can be quite violent with no risk of damaging the hob.
