Stoves 600CTH - PCB packed in after 3 years
Advantages: Looks good and is easy to clean Disadvantages: Hasn't lasted, major delay on replacement PCB part
We bought our Stoves Touch Control Frameless ceramic hob 3 years ago and the PCB has gone. Stoves said it would cost either £250 to fix or we could take an insurance policy that was £100 cheaper and it would cover the cost of the part being fixed and we'd also have a warranty for a year. We took the policy believing this to be a good deal. But part due to come in Jan and has stilll not arrived and it is March. Apart from a call in Jan to say part ...

Really cool!!
Advantages: attractive, temparature variation Disadvantages: cleaning
...new rental flat, I got ignis hob and built in chimney in my kitchen. I have used this product before so I was little happy as I can start cooking straightway rather than experimenting first.
I like most about it is the temperature control. In all 4 hobs (2 large and 2 small) there are 6 types of temperature nodes. So it can serve from very low to really high temparatures. Thought it takes a while in getting hot in begining and getting cool at the ... ...Ceramic Hobs Ignis Built in ceramic Hob: 30 Amps Ignis Built in ceramic Hob: 4 Quick Light Cook Zones Ignis Built in ceramic Hob: 6 Power Levels Ignis Built in ceramic Hob: Power 'on' Indicator Ignis Built in ceramic Hob: Easy Grip Knob Controls ...

BUTLER BHO 3010 ELECTRIC CERAMIC HOB
Advantages: NONE Disadvantages: VERY POOR AFTERSALES SUPPORT
BUTLER BHO3010 PURCHASED 30TH JUNE 2006
I connected the hob to the mains and found that it did not heat up
I wasnt aware that you had to connect up 3 links to make the unit work
Somebody came and fixed it for £40.00 as it was not a warranty job
The hob worked well up til March 2008 and then one of the touch circuit boards stopped working.
I contacted the main contractor for repairs who said that I had to pay £69.99 call charge which was taken ... ...to see if they can get any warranty out of BUTLERS and I await their findings.
In view of the treatment received I have voted with my feet and bought a Belling hob which connected straight away without any problems
SO BE WARNED STAY AWAY FROM BUTLER HOBS

Fragile
Advantages: Nice looking, easy clean, cheap Disadvantages: Fragile
...I will not be buying Baumatic again.
I've almost been put off ceramic hobs, but other make seem much stronger, so we've switched brands (at my expense)
It does pose the question ' How strong should a ceramic hob be ?' Should a feather falling on it break it - no
Should a pan lid - no
A hammer - yes ...

Belling CTC60 hob
Advantages: Easy to clean, safer with small children Disadvantages: Unreliable (two faulty units), over-sensitive controls a nightmare
Bought one in Apr 2008. The control for one of the rings was faulty out of the box - I could turn up the heat, but not turn it down. I had the unit replaced with a new one, three months later the replacement unit failed. Belling's service technician diagnosed a faulty circuit board. I brought it back to the shop for a full refund and did what I should have done in the 1st place - bought a Miele!
Even when it was working, I found the touch controls ... ...the heat under a pot, or unintentionally turned on another ring.
I bought this unit because I've a toddler who likes to fiddle with knobs and also because with a completely smooth surface, it's easier to clean than a hob with conventional knobs. These advantages, while real, were completely overshadowed by the unreliability of the product and the over-sensitivity of the controls. ...
