My little kitchen helper
Advantages: Make chopping veg easy Disadvantages: You need space to store it
...pleased to say that my JML Nicer Dicer isn't one of them. In fact to be honest I use it regularly and it is because of that little gadget that I still have a complete set of digits.
I quite enjoy watching chefs on the TV and I do love to cook but my dexterity with a knife leaves much to be desired. When I watch Jamie Oliver deftly slicing veg I am forced to admire his skill but I doubt I will ever be able to emulate them. I certainly wouldn't be ... ...It is sold by JML for about £15 but if you look around on the internet you can probably find it even cheaper. I find mine really useful but you do need space to store it when it is not in use as it takes up a lot more space than a knife! ...

Vacuum sealing food the easy way
Advantages: Easy to operate Disadvantages: It is a bit fiddly
...so when I saw that JML had got their own channel I couldn't resist watching it one wet afternoon recently. They were doing a demonstration of the JML Vacuum Food Sealer and I was intrigued as I sat and watched.
Basically it is a very simple machine which will either vacuum seal food into polythene bags or just seal (without vacuum). It looked pretty simple and effective and they were demonstrating a range of uses for it. Given that I cook a lot ... ...arrived the day after. The JML Vacuum Food Sealer isn't exactly cheap at £39.99 but it is quite robust and it is simplicity itself to use. All you do is to plug it into the mains, press two buttons on the top to release the cover and place your polybag with the edges for sealing on the machine. Close the lid, press the appropriate button for either 'seal only' or 'vacuum seal' and the machine does the rest. Once the bag is sealed the light on the ...

Catch That Corn!
Advantages: Quick and effective at popping the corn. Disadvantages: Difficult to catch all the corn.
Several years ago my children were given a children's popcorn maker. It was a dreadful thing and popped about one kernel every 10 minutes and always caused great disappointment. However it led me to discover that my children were perfectly happy eating plain popcorn without salt or sugar so I looked around for a home popcorn maker that would work well enough to at least provide a handful of popcorn before boredom set in! I ended up at Argos as I ... ...longer sell it but I have seen it for sale elsewhere but not in the last few months so it may now only be available as a used item. I really cannot remember what I paid for it but I know I wouldn't have spent too much on this sort of gadget!
What does It look like?
The popcorn maker is about 12inches high when complete and is presented in a pale turquoise blue and purple colour scheme. It is certainly not the most tasteful of colours and ...

Tiny and economical way to cook meals for one
Advantages: Much cheaper than a conventional oven to use and the food tastes great Disadvantages: It takes up space on the worktop
...glass bowl but I called Aspect Two and they sent out a replacement without quibble which arrived a couple of days later.
Open the box
As you might imagine as soon as it came I was eager to look inside the box. The product was well packed and protected. The first thing I got to was the lid. It was made of glass, about 9 inches in diameter with a large plastic centre piece containing the fan, the element and the controls. This cooker has both ... ...full control when cooking.
Next I got to the main bowl. This had an external diameter about 10 inches and a height of 5 inches - the same size as a pyrex 3 litre mixing bowl. It stood on a plastic base with two sturdy handles. The bowl is slightly raised when on the stand to allow air to circulate and to protect your worktops. Inside the glass bowl was the cooking rack and the lid stand. Finally there was the instruction book which was simple and ...

PRINCESS ECO FRYER
Advantages: COOKS FOOD WELL AND USES LITTTLE OIL Disadvantages: EMMISSIONS AND REPLACEMENT FILTERS
ALTHOUGH THE ECO FRYER COOKS AS IT SAYS ON THE BOX, YOU DO GET A LOT OF EMMISSIONS FROM THE UNIT WHEN COOKING. I HAVE PUT THIS DOWN TO THE UNIT NEEDING A REPLACEMENT FILTER ( WHICH DON'T LAST VERY LONG , AFTER 5 USES ), BUT I CANNOT GET HOLD OF A SUPPLIER, I HAVE TRIED THE WEBSITE, WHICH IS USELESS. THE ONLY CONTACT THEY GIVE NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. THEY HAVE THIS ANSWER PHONE SYSTEM WHICH, IF YOU WISH, YOU CAN REQUEST A CALL BACK, AT A FINANCIAL ...
