I always buy my Kitekat from the Asda during my big monthly shop, where individual 400g tins cost 39p. I usually buy the Multi-packs in Jelly providing that they are available. Multi-packs of 6 x 400g tins in Jelly or Gravy currently cost £2.33 or £4.62 for 12 x 400g tins.
My Muriel has a preference for the Jelly so providing that they are available I always opt for the latter.
I have eaten some things in my time for the purpose of Ciao reviews but cat food is surely going a bit too far. Isn't it?
I can however honestly say that I did once sample a forkful of Kitekat but I can assure you that it was not for the purpose of this review, it was a response to a drunken challenge. Therefore the comments regarding the taste of this product below are based mainly on the opinions of my cat Muriel rather than my own experience.
The Product
Kitekat is sold in a variety of different formats these days, the original one being in a tin can, which is the type I usually tend to buy and therefore the predominant format featured in this review. It is also available in pouches, which I have bought occasionally but I find these usually work out more expensive than the tins.
Varieties & Price
There are six different varieties sold in the tins to the best of my knowledge and my Muriel has tried them all.
The different varieties are as below:
Duck and Turkey in Jelly Chicken in Jelly Chicken and Rabbit in Jelly Tuna and Salmon in Jelly Lamb and Beef in Gravy Rabbit and Chicken in Gravy

The Packaging
Kitekat comes in a round tin with a bright green label bearing a caricature of a cat on the front. Above this is the word "Kitekat" which is written in black letters with the exception of the "e" in the middle of the word which is in red lettering and draws your eye to the centre of the tin. The variety is written in bottom right hand corner of the tin and the shade of the label does differ slightly around this area, but it is necessary to look carefully at the tin as all of the flavours do look quite similar at a glance.
The reverse of the tin contains details referring to the ingredients and there are also contact details and a customer satisfaction guarantee.
The Verdict
Duck and Turkey in Jelly - This is one of Muriel's favourites. The texture is just right and there are some nice sizeable chunks of Duck and Turkey visible when it is tipped into her dish. The smell is quite pleasant too and the side of the dish is usually licked clean.
Chicken in Jelly - Another favourite and the one I tend to buy in individual tins if I ever run out as it is usually the most widely available one in my local shop. Again the smell is not too overpowering and there are never any complaints.
Chicken and Rabbit in Jelly - This is quite similar to the Chicken in Jelly variety but my Muriel doesn't seem to enjoy it quite as much. However it does smell OK and helps to provide her with the variety she needs to stop her getting bored so again no real complaints from either party.
Tuna and Salmon in Jelly - This is the one flavour within the Jelly varieties that does have an overwhelming smell and it is guaranteed to make your house pong at the most inconvenient of times (i.e. just as some posh dinner guests arrive). My Muriel does always gulp this down but I do find the smell quite off putting and if it was deleted from the multi-pack range then I would certainly have no complaints.
Lamb and Beef in Gravy - This is not very well liked at all by Muriel as she prefers the Jelly varieties. The texture is fairly runny and it does slop into the dish making it a little bit messy to clean up afterwards.
Rabbit and Chicken in Gravy - Also one that I try to avoid for much the same reasons as above. Both the Gravy varieties seem to be a little too rich and have caused my cat to have an upset stomach, which is another reason why I try to avoid these.
Summary
I have tried other cheaper brands of Cat meat but I usually return to Kitekat as I know that my cat enjoys it. It certainly isn't the cheapest brand on the shelf as individual tins of budget cat food can be picked up for under 20p but from experience when you open these tins you tend to be greeted with a mashed up mess with no real meat content at all. So at the end of the day I don't mind paying a little more for Kitekat because after all my Muriel is worth it.
Advantages: Our cat wants seconds. Disadvantages: Not the cheapest.
...years but it is still KiteKat that he will always eat with the most enthusiasm and often want “seconds”. Although he will sometimes eat other brands they do often make him sick and that we definitely do not want. Our cat is now 13 years old and eats one can of food each day. At 47p each this means that so far he has cost us over £2000. I wish I hadn’t worked that out now! Does anybody want to buy a cat? Obviously having a cat (or ...

Advantages: Cats seem to really like it, good texture Disadvantages: None really
Kitekat comes in pouches and 400g tins and have a wide range of flavours either in jelly or in gravy. In this review I am conentrating on the 400g lamb and beef in gravy tins.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS.
The apperance of the tins is quite eye catching, the green tin with the cartoon cat on the front draws your eye to the tins on the supermarket / pet shop shelf. The design gives the impression that this is a good quality food that your cats are just going ... ...day.
OVERALL IMPRESSIONS.
Kitekat is a good quality food at a reasonable price, the cats enjoy it and you feel that you are feeding them a correctly ballanced food which means they are getting all the nutrients and minerals they require for a healthy life.
Priced at approx £0.47 per tin this is a mid ranged cat food that offers good value for money. ...

Advantages: Good price and good quality Disadvantages: Salmon flavour is least popular
From the speed at which my cats devour this product I would recommend it to any cat owner. The choice of flavours and consistencies provides plenty of variety and the price is pretty good too. This cat food is a definite must and I am yet to find a cat that hasn't finished a whole bowl. The quality of meat is pretty good and the smelly is not too disgusting - particularly first thing in the morning after the night before! katkins is reasonably priced ...

Quick review of Kitekat
I don't suppose for one minute that you will print this, but I would like a question answered. Why is it that when you started producing your cat food in sachets you expected customers to pay so much more. I bought a 400g. tin of Kitekat for 47p. yesterday and noticed that a box of 12 x 100g. sachets would have cost me £3.85. This, as I am sure you are well aware is more than double the price, in fact it is almost three times more expensive. Explanation please, IF YOU DARE! ...
Advantages: Good variety, good price Disadvantages: Jelly can go liquid
...favourite tinned cat foods are KiteKat and Felix!! They always prefer the Chubks in Jelly varieties, never having been keen on the 'meatloaf' type. KiteKat has recently added Sunflower Oil to the recipe of it's large range of cat food. This is beneficial for both the digestive system and the condition of their coats and skin, and, more importantly, they both love it! It has a good balance of jelly and meat chunks with a wide variety of flavours and ...

Advantages: Tasty, two flavours in each biscuit Disadvantages: none
The Cat Food market is very competative and new products are always welcomed by cat owners.
If you own a cat then you will know what fussy eaters they can be. My cats used to quite happily eat food from a tin, until they were introduced to some free pouches. Now they will not eat anything from a tin, it has to be pouches only. They prefer Whiskas, but will also eat Felix and Kitekat!
Being out at work all day, I do not want my little pets to starve, so they are fed meat morning and evening and are left biscuits during the day so that they have something to snack on.
There are a lot of biscuits out there, but cats do prefer something that is tasty and also crunchy.
My cats usually get whatever is on offer, but they do prefer Whiskas! However, after trying the Felix Duos, in my house, 3 out of 3 cats, said that they ...

Advantages: Very Cheap Disadvantages: You get what you pay for
I have purchased Asda smartprice catfood on just the one occasion. I don't think that my two cats would thank me if I bought it again.
It is cheap around 19p a can but cheap is not always good. It is a solid catfood with a spongy texture which does not cut easily, infact it goes into a bit of mush.
From opening up the tin you are overwhelmed by the fishy odour. There are small bones inside and the general first impression that I got was that I had just bought a tin of the sweeping ups.
I feed my cats on Asda Tiger cuts at £1.90 for a multi pack of six assorted flavours. I find this far superior and will stick with it. The smell and texture are the same as Kit-e-Kat and I wouldn't be suprised to find it was made by them for Asda.
I know that all smartprice products have been tested by Asda and approved but who or what tested this ...
Advantages: All a cat needs Disadvantages: Never found a resealing bag.
We have three cats and up until about two years ago fed them both tinned and dry food. But none are big eaters and we found during the warmer months the tinned food was going hard and dry in the bowl. If you have ever been fortunate enough to experience this smell you will know it is not a pleasant one. So after checking with the vet we decided to switch to just dry food.
We tried various brands, types and flavours. Anything from Hills Science to Tesco own. They had their favourites but generally ate them all except Kitekat, which just sat for days in their bowls.
Then about 6 months ago I received a coupon for the new tastier Whiskas. If you register on their website you will often get coupons and you can even apply for a free kitten care kit.

So we went off to Tesco to buy a bag. As it was also on offer we ...
