Kleenex Balsam Pocket Packs

I have dry, sensitive skin, especially on my face, so if I get a cold it doesn't take very long before my nose becomes red and sore from repeated nose blowing. For that reason, whenever I have a cold, I try to use Kleenex Balsam tissues.

Kleenex is a well-established premium brand and their Balsam range of tissues are premium quality disposable tissues which have a layer of calendula balm within them. This is designed to soothe skin whenever a tissue is used. The tissues just look and feel like any other premium tissue rather than baby wipes as you might expect. To the touch, I can't actually tell that the tissues have been impregnated with anything - they certainly don't feel wet or even damp, just soft and strong. They don't have any noticeable scent either so don't appear to be any different from your average decent quality tissue at first glance.

The tissues feel soft, strong and gentle against my nose. I can't feel any residue left on my skin either after using these so the difference between using these and other premium tissues only becomes apparent after a couple of days of regular use. Halfway through a cold if I use regular tissues, my nose starts to feel sore and the skin underneath can start to dry out and crack. Using Kleenex Balsam prevents this irritation completely, no matter how long the cold might last for. The tissues are quite a decent size when opened out completely and can be used for a number of 'blows' without ripping or tearing, so these are certainly strong enough to cope with a heavy cold. I hate cheap tissues which fall apart after a single use!

These are available in traditional style tissue boxes, including a 'man size' version - presumably extra large to deal with the worst outbreaks of man flu! I tend to find that my nose runs more when I am out and about so I buy these in their travel pack format. These are really convenient to take anywhere as the packet is small and comes with a resealable sticky tab to keep the tissues clean. I currently have an opened packet in my coat pocket - proving that these are indeed 'pocket' tissues - as well as a full packet in the changing basket and one on the mantelpiece, ready for any nasal emergencies, wherever I might be!

A multipack containing six small packets of tissues (each with nine tissues inside) costs me around £1.30, which is slightly more expensive than other products without this additional soothing layer, but well worth the difference. Supermarkets have started to produce their own version of these tissues too and they are generally cheaper but I prefer the reassurance of using a quality brand.

Hopefully, I'm not going to come down with another cold in the near future, having only just recovered from one. When I do, I will certainly be restocking my supplies of Kleenex Balsam!
