This is a toy for kids and adults alike, and dads especially love it, well my hubby does anyway. There are lots of different sized sets available, and they cost between £3.00 and £100. Before you buy though, it is a good idea to invest in a big plastic toolbox for storage, as you can be sure that once you`ve bought one set it won`t be long before you want more. K`nex are lots of different coloured plastic pieces that are joined together to make models. They work on the same sort of basis as lego, but k`nex is much more versatile. Each of the larger sets comprises of 7 different coloured rods, varying in length from 1½cm to 19 cm. Review of K'Nex Basic Set

Knex - Great Christmas Present for your children.

Advantages: Keeps the children amused
Disadvantages: hurt feet when you stand on bits.

big box's of Basic knex from a car-boot for £10 this included the motors which can be a bit pricey on there own. At a charity shop we brought the pin ball and another roller coaster for £15 both brought from a shop would have cost £80. So keep an eye out or why not place an advert in the local press that your looking for some, that's what my friend did and got herself a good bargain, with some sets thrown in free. My daughter is 8 years old and loves doing Knex too so don't rule the girls out. She just brought her own set with her birthday money. BEWARE: Some of the bits are very small and if you have tiny ones they could pick this up and swallow them. Also they really hurt if you step on them in bare feet. Also you may find your hubby hogging the knex or giving orders, maybe a good idea to buy them a little set too :) ...

Advantages: The only limit is your imagination, quite durable
Disadvantages: Some kits are expensive, I'm told I'm too old to use it

Manufacturers- K'NeX Industries, INC/Hasbro Age- Depends on the complexity of the set. kid K'NeX, which is new, can be used by age 3 and up. Other sets start from 5 up, but the most complex sets like the Rippin' Rocket are for age 10+. The basic set retails around £14.99-£19.99. Price- Again depends on the set. The basic set retails around £14.99-£19.99, but some sets cost up to £99, or as little as £4, so the basic set is pretty cheap considering, but you don't get the range or amount as pieces as the other sets give you. Batteries required- None in the basic set. Some sets are rubber band powered, but there are more complicated sets that do require the use of batteries.
