Advantages: Keeps the children amused Disadvantages: hurt feet when you stand on bits.
...'s of Basic knex from a car-boot for £10 this included the motors which can be a bit pricey on there own. At a charity shop we brought the pin ball and another roller coaster for £15 both brought from a shop would have cost £80. So keep an eye out or why not place an advert in the local press that your looking for some, that's what my friend did and got herself a good bargain, with some sets thrown in free.
My daughter is 8 years old and loves doing Knex too so don't rule the girls out. She just brought her own set with her birthday money.
BEWARE: Some of the bits are very small and if you have tiny ones they could pick this up and swallow them. Also they really hurt if you step on them in bare feet.
Also you may find your hubby hogging the knex or giving orders, maybe a good idea to buy them a little set too :)...

Advantages: Keeps them quite whilst building Disadvantages: Big, Noisy, lots of little bits
...Basic information
K’nex is a colour coded construction set, which comprises of “sticks” and “connectors” in various shapes and sizes, which are then joined together to make 2d and 3d shapes and constructions. Prices start at around £5 for a small set which makes one or two models to £100 + for the larger sets which have instructions for one or more larger models.
For pre-schoolers there is a range of Kid K’nex which has some larger parts and makes some great looking critters and vehicles.
Some parts are found in all kits, such as the basic “sticks” and “connectors” and others are found only in specific kits such as motors, coaster-car, and wheels.
Due to the number of pieces and the small size of many of the parts, K’nex and Kid K’nex are not suitable for under 3’s.

Advantages: Very versatile Disadvantages: Can be difficult to follow the larger diagrams
...This is a toy for kids and adults alike, and dads especially love it, well my hubby does anyway. There are lots of different sized sets available, and they cost between £3.00 and £100. Before you buy though, it is a good idea to invest in a big plastic toolbox for storage, as you can be sure that once you`ve bought one set it won`t be long before you want more.
K`nex are lots of different coloured plastic pieces that are joined together to make models. They work on the same sort of basis as lego, but k`nex is much more versatile. Each of the larger sets comprises of 7 different coloured rods, varying in length from 1½cm to 19 cm. There are also many different sized pieces called connectors, as well as tyres, hub caps and pulleys.
All these pieces either just slot into each other or snap together. All the parts are colour coded and each...
