Although HP printcartridges are coming down in price you can still expect to pay a lot more than other substitute brands.
The real question is whether the extra money is worth it. With some of the alternative products on the market today I am inclined to believe you can the same quality for less money.

In my opinion the HP 350XL printcartridge is good value for money. It provides a high quality print everytime on a variety of different papers and lasts a really long time. I definately think it is worth while buying the XL cartridges as they work out cheaper in the long run. I bought this product when printing my dissertation at university and despite the fact that it was over 200 pages long and i had to make 2 copies the cartridge lasted the whole time as well as having some ink left over. The ink was also quick drying so it was very smudge resistant even on glossy paper. I would recommend this product to anyone who is thinking of buying a black inkcartridge for their HP printer. ...

can malfunction and leak, but I have yet to experience this happening to any of the ones I have had.
With my recycling hat on, there is no mention on this cartridge of whether any parts have been used from recycled materials. I?m assuming then that HP are not trying to used recycled parts in this printcartridge, which seems a real waste considering the amount of these cartridges that must be used and thrown away on a daily basis worldwide!
Here comes my usual gripe with Hewlett Packard consumables, I feel that they are too expensive! OK £20 might not seem that excessive a price, but considering that you usually need a colourcartridge too for around the same price, you are talking about £40 just to replace the ink in a printer that probably only cost £80 to begin with!
