"Not too bad"

To start with, the camera is fairly bulky and in my opinion, not very attractive. Also, if you want high quality pictures then this is NOT the camera for you. Image quality is fair but not great.

It's only capable of taking 1 Mega-Pixel images so it's a bit out of date, but because of this, the price has dropped quite a bit and so it's quite good value for money if you bought one now.

To make the best out of the camera, you'd want to set the quality to 'Best' and with just the internal memory, you won't get many pictures in so you would have to upgrade the memory with 'CF' (Compact Flash) Picture cards. These memory cards are expensive but they're necessary if you want to make the best of the camera. This is a bit of a downside to buying this camera even if the camera itself is inexpensive.

The camera has a serial connection. This is VERY slow. Especially with higher quality images since their file sizes are bigger. Uploading pictures can take a very long time if you use this. That is why I bought myself a USB CF card-reader. This makes loading pictures much quicker. Without this, I'd probably be fed up of waiting for images to upload to my PC.

Something I don't like about the camera is the zoom feature. It has a fixed zoom of x1 and x2. You cannot adjust it anymore than that. Another thing is that you can only use the feature when the quality is set to 'Good'. (Out of Good/Better/Best). I'd prefer something that gives me more flexibility.

It's not the best for taking pictures of small objects. If I get too close, the flash's light is reflected and the pictures become too bright, so taking pictures of small objects is a bit of a challenge. I usually turn off the flash and then have to enhance the pictures taken using Photoshop if the lighting in a room is not good enough. In good lighting, the pictures aren't too bad.

I like the view finder on the LCD, and the battery life. They're not too bad. Battery life would be longer if you do not use the view finder as much. It has a nice 'slideshow' feature where you can link the camera to your TV.

Overall, If you don't want to spend much and simply want a basic digital camera that can take fairly good quality pictures, then look not further, it's right for you! Otherwise, take a look at some of the newer ones. Good as a first digital camera for beginners.

I've had it since 2001 and am still using it. It's enough for the job for now, but I'll consider upgrading to a better one when I've got the money.
