I have had this videoconference camera now for about 6 weeks and it is excellent. Prior to this I had a Pace webcam, and take it from me the Kodak is far superior. It comes with some very good software which allows you to take still photos at 640 x480 resolution, which about 3 years ago was the best resolution you could get from a digital camera. It has a usb interface which makes videoconferencing clearer, and the images sharper. For videoconferencing you are supplied with Microsoft netmeeting, this is free with windows and is okay but there are better programs out there. I liked the addition of a snapshot button on the top of the camera, this allows you to take a snaphot photo and saves messing about with the mouse. This is a well built webcam and gives the best quality still pictures and the sharpest videoconference I have seen. My only critism is the camera is not detatchable and I would prefer a better videoconference software program. I purchased the camera from BUY.com for £35 as I got a £30 off voucher. There are many of these vouchers around and if you are a first time customer ring up buy.com on their freephone number and they will email you a voucher.
Advantages: Cost effective, good software bundle(presto, photoprint), excellent image quality, easy to set-up Disadvantages: Axis of movement is only up and down
I bought this webcam ultimately to use for videoconferencing, but found that it was supplied with some excellent software to take pictures and edit them with ease which has come in very handy.
After looking at the variety of web cams out there, i choose this one as it was probably one of the best deals(and still is) in terms of reliablity, price and image quality. Looks a bit like a gadget from Star Trek, but it looks as good as it works. Image ... ...also depends on your internet connection. I use it when the phone lines across the world are not busy, which means that the image is clear. Only major problem is that if you want to use it for more than photos of your local vacinity and explore the world - u can't - this is unlike the new type of web cams that are portable such as the "web cam go" by Creative. However you will find that the image quality of this camera is very good compared to others.
