I bought one of these frames for my elderly mother as a Christmas present recently, and she loves it !
I had been planning to buy one for her for quite a while, but was unsure of which make and model to get. The standard size for digital frames seems to be 7 inches, costing around £50, with larger ones obviously more expensive. I was walking past a local camera shop a few months ago, when I saw one of the 10 inch Kodak frames in the window, and it immediately caught my eye, the price was reasonably too- £119, I knew this was a good price, and it was not a major name shop either! I liked the idea of the larger 10 inch frame for my mother, as it can be easily seen from across a room.
I did a little internet research, and went back and bought the frame, it came well packed in a cardboard box, with all the accessories neatly secured. The frame comes with a mains adapter (it's mains only), a USB cable for linking to a computer, a full feature remote control, and a remote control holder. Software on a CD is also included, as is a briefd instruction manual.
The frame has 128MB of internal memory, or you can insert a memory card, several formats are supported, including Compact Flash and SD. There is another model that has WI-Fi, but this was unneccessary in my mother's case.
The frame has the control buttons set into the upper edge of the rear frame body, but most people will probably use the remote, as it has all the buttons replicated on it.
I saved a large number of images to an SD card, and these were displayed clearly and with good colour on the screen, there are settings that can be altered to change the display time for each image in the slide show, and the transition is smooth. The screen can play movies, and has a speaker also, but I have only used still images so far.
If during the slideshow, an image is on screen that needs to be rotated, just press the rotate button on the remote, and it's done! The built in stand on the rear allows you to stand it in portrait or landscape formats, or you can even hang it on the wall.
It seems that with images on a card or internal memory, it will start a slideshow as soon as it's switched on, but you can choose the image source from the onscreen menus if desired.
In summary, I recommend it completely, it has been well received as a Christmas present, and I am glad I bought the larger frame.
Advantages: clear, good quality images Disadvantages: always needs to be plugged in
Although its made solely out of plastic, the quality and durability of this product is surprisingly high, it holds a range of S/D card sizes allowing you to take the memory out of almost any camera and show them on this frame. The quality of the pictures that it shows are outstanding, i have a cannon ixus 7 mega pixel camera and the resolution of the 7 mega pixels is great, showing them as clearly as on my laptop. This product can also play videos ... ...use this feature as not one digital camera that i can think of takes videos in a mp4 format so you would have to convert the on you computer, put them back on the card and then display them on the digital frame, this is too much hassle and wouldn't be worth it. Another small complaint i have about this product is that it has no battery so it must be plugged into the mains at all times, being rather inconvenient for the everyday user. ...
