I have just purchased this printer. Was delivered yesterday and I was so excited I wanted to put it to work straight away, but I was concerned with the fact that some people had not rated it well, yet I had seen demonstrations on the TV and internet pointing out all the benefits for buying this printer. Well this is my experience and I tell it how I see it. The printer came well packed and with very good instructions on how to install it, also I have some experience from before on how to install printers trouble free. So you must take it out of the box remove all packaging and all sticky tapes attached to the lids and other opening also you must remove packaging from the cartridge cradle and click it into place as well as remove also the packaging from each cartridge and click it into place.
Then firstly I install the CD (make sure to check is the one for your operating system (Windows or Mac) once installation is near completion it will ask you to connect the usb cable, at this stage I connected the power supply cable and the usb cable and switched the printer on the PC will automatically detect it and as you installed the cd already the drivers are already there and PC will install them for you automatically and will also update software if a new one is out.
The printer as far as I can tell prints very well and also reads cards MS,XD & SD very well , the scanner is quite good too, the only complain I have overall is that the printer operation is a quite noisy at the beginning of each print, when it pulls in a new paper and when finishes printing and expels the paper....the printing itself is no noisier than other printers I have had Ie: my last one HP7150.
Printing is fast, very crisp and has great resolution, even on normal print an normal paper.
I would recommend the purchase of this printer to any one if you don't mind a little noise for good printing and don't mind replacing the cartridges regular as it does consume ink very fast.
Another good point the cartridges they are very cheap about 9.99 for originals and is supposed to only use 50% of the normal ink to print, I was paying 23 for black and about 28 for colour original for cartridges for the HP7150 and 10 blk 16 colour for re manufactured....I now can buy always originals as the price is very cheap, and I don't have to sacrifice on quality...Hope this helps you make up your mind. Having said that I have used the printer in the same way I used my previous one and to be honest it is spending the ink at three times the rate that my HP7150 spent, so I would take saving 50% on ink with a pinch of salt, as you you changing the cartridges 3 times as fast means it actually costs you more.
I estimate that after around 200 B&W prints the black cartridge is ready to be replaced, and the colour about 3-4 small photos A6 + around 50 mixed black text A4 and colour combined also needs replacing.
PLEASE having taken the time to read this review, SPARE one more second to COMMENT on it.

Sorry Fatboyslim, the reason why I hadn't put how much printing I did and how long the cartridges last was because I had just purchased the printer and not had it long eneugh to estimate that...
Now I do have had it for a while, so I'll be adding to my review that info...which is I print very little I estimate that runs out of black ink after printing about 150-200 pages and colour I use it very little indeed only about one or two small photos and about 30-40 prints of text and colour and the colour cartridge needs replacing.
So I can say now the consumption comparing to an HP7150 I had before is about 3 times faster.
Hope this helps you further, if I knew what I know now I would have not purchased this printer, only for the ink issue as the printer scanner and software are really good but is the ink that keeps having to be replaced all the time, also I did mention I think the printer operation is very noisy.

You mention one of the disadvantages 'consumes ink fast' but you make no mention of it in your review. It would have been helpful more if you mentioned how much printing you do and how long the ink cartridges last.
