For many years, Kodak have been the fore-runners of the Digital-Camera world, with attempts to make photography comprehendible and cheap for first time users, and filled with enough features to keep even the most advanced photographer entertained. The LS755 epitomises this, being a beautiful display of both Kodak's workmanship and the advancements in digital photographic technology at a very affordable price.
At the time of purchase (summer 2005), this camera cost a mere 150 pounds which is staggering for a 5.1 megapixel with a 2.5 inch screen, even a year later.
The exterior of the camera is superb. The front resembles a 'normal' camera, with added impressiveness from the metal protective coating, while the back/screen resembles something space-aged that I have yet to see another camera of this type better. It is totally flat. The huge 2.5inch LCD screen is embedded into the body, making it seamless, as are the buttons. Not only this, but the back is a very cool black colour which just makes this camera fantastically appealing - it's cool and different from every angle.
The camera features a Schneider Kreuznach lenz (a very good brand), which zooms up to 8X optically and many many more times digitally. The controls are easy to understand, comprehendible selections can be made using the very nifty joystick. Kodak have also provided the user with many settings to play with, including custum settings ranging from optimal 'candlelight' photographs to 'bright snow' scenes. Not only this, but fully customisable settings, allowing advanced user customisable adjustments of brightness, flash intensity, flash type (red-eye et cetera) and picture quality (5.1 - 1.1MP).
Not only is it great for taking videos, but it allows video capture too, exporting in QuickTime format for high quality. Not only this, but the camera has a 'time-lapse' function; the camera takes a static photograph every 5/10/30 seconds / 1/2/5/10/30 minutes /1/2/6/12/24 hours and puts it into a movie which, if left in a certain spot for a prolonged period of time, can create stunning effects.
In all, this camera is fantastic. The screen is as large as you would want it to be and the design is sleek and impressive. The camera itself is state of the art in design, with protective metal extremities and a totally flat black back with the biggest screen I've ever seen on such a small and compact camera. Not only is the high quality of the Schneider lens outstanding for such a beautifully looking camera, but it is very robust. Having dropped the camera on several occasions, I felt that my money had been wasted, but on each occasion the camera pulled through unscathed. This truly is a fantastic piece of workmanship. I highly recommend it.
