Why Did I Buy The Camera?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I bought the Easy Share M883 because I accidently broke my good old Panasonic Digital Camera. It was ontop of the kitchen work-top when I picked it up and dropped it on the ceramic tiles, which cracked the LCD screen on the camera.
So with christmas fast approaching and my sisters
18th birthday party in a couple of weeks I had to buy a new Digi Cam. So me and hubby decided a trip to our local
Currys store was in-order so as we could look at some of the Digi Cams they had, and find one that was
easy to use and that took good pictures.
We wanted a camera which was wasn't going to cost any more than £150 and that had at-least 4 mega-pixels, so as they photos we took were clear and in focus. The most important thing which the camera had to be was user friendly, because there is nothing worse than having a camera which is really hard to operate.
When we were at Curries looking at the different cameras they had on display, a member of their staff approached us and asked what type of camera we were looking for, we told her what we wanted the camera to have and what price we were willing to pay it. She showed us a few different cameras which all differed from one another, and after about 20 minutes of comparing the different cameras we decided to buy the
Kodak Easy Share M883, because it looked the easiest camera to operate and it has an amazing 8 mega-pixels.
The best thing about the M883 was its price tag. We only paid £129.99 for it, it had been reduced in their sale from £249.99, which hubby and I thought was an absolute bargain.
What Does it Look Like?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The M883 is silver in colour and has a metallic body so as it has added strength and durability, which is perfect for me and my butter fingers. The metal body of the camera gives the M883 a really shiny, metallic look.
The M883 is fairly small and light-weight compared to my broken Panasonic camera. I don't know if this is a bad thing because I am really prone to dropping things, but time will soon tell.
The M883 measures H 9.1cm X W 6.5cm X D 3.7cm and it only weighs 137 g with the batteries inside it.
This camera is really slim and is rather rectangular in shape with rounded edges. It is perfect for fitting inside my handbag because it doesnt take up as much room as my old Panasonic Camera.
On the back of the m883 it has a really good sized LCD screen which is great for viewing the pictures I have taken with it. With the other digi cams we looked at in Curries their screens were relativly small compared to this one. The screen measures 3inches from corner to corner.

Features
~~~~~~~~
* DIGITAL ZOOM ~ The M883 has 5 times digital zoom, which I think is great because if you are a fair distance away from the subject you want to take a picture of the camera has the ability to zoom in so as you can take a closer picture of it. (5/5)
* OPTICAL ZOOM ~ The camera also has 3 times optical zoom, which means that the lense moves and keeps the pictures clear, close and
in-focus, using this along side the digital zoom means that you can take closer clearer pictures.
(5/5)
* CONTINUOUS SHOOTING ~ It has the ability to take numerous pictures one-after the-other if you press down on the button. I found this useful for taking photos at the sponcered bounce the kids were taking part in at school last week. It allowed me to get great clear photos of them in different positions. (4/5)
* EXPOSURE CHANGING ~ his is a great feature of the camera because you can change the level of brightness or darkness in the picture so as your pictures are always perfect, no matter where and when you are taking them. (5/5)
* FLASH ~ On the M883 you can change the settings of the flash depending which type of picture you are taking. I dont change the flash settings on the camera because I find that the pictures are perfect without the need to change it. (5/5)
*
VIDEO OUTPUT ~ I have not used this feature yet, but as soon as I do I will add it to the review. The camera allows you to
connect it to your
TV so as you can view your pictures. (N/A)
* SELFTIMER ~ The self timer allows you to set the camera so as it can take the picture automatically by itself. I found this feature to be useful if you want to take a
family photo and dont want a member to be missing from the picture. (5/5) * 8 MEGA PIXELS ~ The quality of the pictures is fantastic, they are really clear and infocus, the picture quality is much more better than the pictures I took with my last camera. (5/5)
Ease Of Use?
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The M883 is so simple and easy to use. All the appropriate buttons you need to use inorder to delete photos, preview and access the menus are on the back of the camera next to the LCD screen. This is really good because with my last camera I had to turn a dial on the top of the camera inorder to use theese features and delete the photos and most of the time I deleted pictures by accident because I went into the wrong menu.
Zooming in/out on your subject is really easy too, because the zoom button is next to the large LCD screen. This means that you just have to look at the large LCD screen and zoom in/out untill you are happy with the look and then take the picture.
Printing the pictures using the M883 is easy too because all you need to do is install the included drivers and software into your computer and then connect the camera to your computer using the supplied USB lead. Then all you need to do is select the pictures you want to print.

Packaging & Contents
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The camera is packed in a sturdy cardboard box which is packed inside with polystyrene so as the camera doesn't get damaged. When you open the box you will find ~
- M883 Digi Cam (For taking pictures)
- USB Lead (For printing pictures via PC or Laptop)
- Wrist Strap
- Easy Share Welcome/Getting Started guide
- CDrom sortware/drivers
- 2 X AA Batteries
- 64 MB memory Card
The batteries included with the Easy share are not rechargable and dont last very long, we just use the
rechargable batteries from out old digi cam as theese are the same size.
The memory card included with the camera doesnt really hold many photos, so we ended up buying a 2GB one from Argos which cost £24.
99 (cat num 570/0996). With the bigger memory card we wont feel the need to take less photos because the 2GB card will hold alot of pictures and we wont have to delete any of them.
How Does It Compare to Other Digi Cams?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think that this camera is probably one of the best on the market at the moment. Because of the large LCD screen taking the pictures is really easy and you have less chance of cutting people out of the photo because you have too look at the screen whilst taking the picture, rather than looking through the view finder.
The picture quality with this camera is fantastic, because they are so detailed and colourful, due to the large amount of mega pixels and the bright flash and zoom.
I havent really seen many other cameras on the market which offer as wide a range of features as the easy share at such a
low price.
There is only one disadvantage with this camera and this is that you cant get it in any other colour apart from sliver. I would have liked to have got this model in pink, but I dont think that hubby would have used the camera if it was pink though.So if you are looking for an easy to use camera, which is stylish, small, easy to use and takes fantastic clear pictures then I highly recommend that you consider purchasing this model.
