After watching dozens of adverts for digital cameras on the t.v. we realised that our 3 and a half year old (but much loved) Kodak CX6330 was probably a bit out of touch. I will admit to being extremely nervous about making a 'wrong' choice as technology seems to be advancing at such an alarming rate and even though the prices have dropped dramatically, I still don't want to be buying a new camera every few months just to keep up!
Eventually we decided upon the Kodak V1003 for the following reasons:
a) We had no problems with the old one and Kodak is a trusted brand
b) It has 3x optical & digital zoom (which we had been told to look for)
c) It has 10 megapixels, which was more than a some others for the same price
d) It was on offer
All the features from our CX6330 are on this one, along with many improvements, the video function now has sound and the viewing screen is larger. It is also nice to have a choice of colours, not important, but makes it feel a little more personalised!
Being a bit of a technophobe, I have found the many menu choices difficult to get my head around and the handbook looks great but is actually very basic, just in about 10 diiferent languages. However, I have actually enjoyed playing around with the different options and have learnt from this, i.e. getting a still from video and the timer delay. The little joystick is a bit fiddly, I manage by using my nails but anyone with large fingers may struggle!
All in all though, I am very happy with the overall quality and value for money.
