This is a fantastic camera for stills or video with sound. The clarity of the pictures, even when enlarged, is amazing. I was astounded when I zoomed in on a picture and could actually see all the detail on a picture hanging on the wall in the background. It is very handy to always have with you as it is so compact. The viewing screen is large - 2.5 in and pictures can be edited and stored all on the camera itself. Photographs from the camera can easily be downloaded to a PC either via the base unit, or a card reader. The camera automatically adjusts for light and basically is almost idiot proof! I would thoroughly recommend this camera to novice and expert alike, it is ideal to carry with you.
I can't give you techie stuff - I'm afraid I don't understand it myself, I know the camera has 32 MB of internal memory and I have installed a 512 MB SD memory card. And the amount of information that can be made available on the viewing screen from flash to date, camera mode to zoom, image storage location to framing grid; you can choose to have as many or as few as you need.
I recently went to an air show. Previously, without an SLR and a long lens, all I managed to get were little dots with wings! With this baby I was able to take photos on full zoom, then use the zoom again on the taken image. I ended up with some really superb pictures of all the historic and modern aircraft - Spits, Texans, a B17. I will admit to feeling a little silly, pointing this tiny camera when people around me had lenses the size of dustbins, but my 'snaps' are in focus, and remarkably sharp.
I have also found that it holds a charge for simply ages - I really cannot recall the last time I charged it, and I do use it at least once a week, sometimes daily depending on time of year (holidays, visitors, etc).
Also, during a recent lunar eclipse - well a couple of years ago - I took some photographs, and again, by zooming in on the original image, I have some very acceptable pictures of the phases of the eclipse - and this was after dinner at our local, so I impressed myself by having a steady hand and not falling over when aiming my camera straight upwards!
The user's guide is also very clear and written grammatically well. I will admit to not having read it thoroughly as once I had learned how to point and take a picture, I stopped reading. I really must go through it again as I am sure I could markedly improve on, what I consider to be, perfect pictures! OK, so maybe not perfect, but eminently acceptable, and I can never get over how wonderful photographs look on a computer screen. However, I do like to have hard copies as I love photographs, having lost nearly 30 years worth, I now cherish every one I take. I also love looking at other peoples'. Furthermore, I think it wonderful to be able to see the picture you have taken immediately! I don't think I'll ever get over the novelty of this aspect, even though my Father had a camera like this, although a tad larger, over 10 years ago.
One very small niggle - when I inserted the disc that came with the camera into my PC I thought I was just downloading the software for the camera - silly me - it actually installs a complete photo editing package which tries to take over whenever I try to open picture attachments - I have managed to stop that happening, and I always download my photos via a card reader, then I know exactly into which photo software package my pictures are going. The Kodak one is not as comprehensive and easy to use as the one I already had installed. Also, I have been told that when I send photos through the Kodak software, they have to be viewed on line, rather than just being attached to the e mail. This only happened once, every since I have not used it for downloading or sending photographs.
Do consider this camera, it definitely is one of the best things I have ever bought, I really do not know what I'd do without it, I absolutely love it - I had been looking for ages and ages when I found this one, it is, without doubt, one of the very few things I simply could not do without!
Advantages: Reliable, and has survived several forced landings on pavements Disadvantages: Zoom could be faster. Would have preferred more visible colour scheme.
...the proud owner of the Kodak Dual Lens for over two years now. It has proved a most reliable and compact little camera, which I've generally found easy to use and follow. Regarding the 3 X optical zoom, I have found in practice that it seems to take a long time to progress from wide angle to the fullest extent of the optical zoom. This can be at times frustrating when the photo subject requires a quick zoom in to compose and capture successfully. ... ...useful to me, if Kodak had produced it in different colours. Reason being that black is not the most visible colour and there have been times in foreign lands when I've nearly misplaced or lost the camera. A bright yellow or red would have been much appreciated ! ...

Advantages: size, presets, big back screen Disadvantages: Price
I bought the Kodak V570 Dual Lens because I wanted a smaller size camera I could take with me at concerts or some other places where it is difficult to use my bigger digital SLR (Nikon D50) and so far I haven't been disappointed. The size is perfect in pretty much any situation and the quality of the pictures is excellent. Besides the back screen was a decision maker for me because it is quite big for such a camera and that makes it easier to take ... ...always find it difficult to take good pictures in this mode without a tripod for stability.
Also the picture presets such as 'landscape', 'portrait', 'candle light' or 'Fireworks' mean you can't really go wrong with the picture taking.
Also what I really liked about that model is the internal lens. A small silver disc opens and closes and starting up or shutting down the camera.
I've experienced problems with other cameras in the past where I ...

Advantages: Dual Lenses, Size Disadvantages: Can't use AA batteries, battery life not the best
...you have to use a Kodak battery, which costs about 20 dollars. The battery life is ok... The dock makes it easy to transfer pictures to a computer. You can also run a slideshow from the dock, either on the camera or on a TV with the A/V cables. The flash is good enough for most things. Only one external moving part to break. ...
