A great little camera
I have had this camera just a few days, and I have been nothing but impressed with it. This must be just about the only compact camera to come with the zoom power that you get on a much larger camera.
In the box
Kodak have stopped manufacturing this camera, so I was forced to buy mine used off eBay, I won it for £130 plus £10 p&p. As mine wasn't new, I'm not really in a position to describe how easy it is to set up, as mine was ready to go right out of the box. I got the following items:
Camera
Battery
Charger
Video Cables
Dock insert
I think that was it, mine didn't come with a USB cable or a case, but as far as I know these are included when buying new. This wasn't a problem for me, as I just use a card reader anyway, and the case that Kodak give you (according to other reviews I have read) is just a little cloth bag. I might buy one from Jessops, or I might leave it - it just travels around in my pocket anyway and having no case is more convenient.
Performance
If you treat the V610 as an ordinary compact camera, it performs very well. There is just a couple of seconds from turning the camera on to being ready to take a photo, and shutter lag is virtually non-existent provided you are already focused (otherwise the autofocus takes a second or two). The video quality, despite not getting near that of an actual video camera, is the best I have seen on a camera. It has all the standard features such as red eye prevention and self timer, as well as landscape and macro modes, and about 20 different scene presets.
Special Features
Aside from being a very good looking camera, the V610 has three main selling points. The big one, and the one that presumably makes it cost so much, is the zoom. When the camera is off (so you can't see the two lenses) it just looks like any compact camera, yet it has an amazing ten times zoom! The other little cool features are Bluetooth (not particularly useful, and you can't send/receive videos) and panorama with on-camera stitching - something none of my previous cameras have had.
My Overall Opinion
My overall opinion of the Kodak V610, and the reason I have given it five stars, is just because to anyone else, it looks like a pretty expensive, yet normal, compact camera. But you can take pictures with it as if you had a much more professional-looking camera, with an obvious high zoom. It feels like just my previous camera (a Kodak Z740) has just had plastic surgery to make it look more attractive, yet lost none of its advantages (it too had 10x zoom).
So, if you can find it (I had trouble), I would really recommend buying this camera.

...that you download the Kodak software for picture editing, it is a strange programme which seems to take over! Found loads of pictures in it which I thought I had deleted, it picked up every photo that had ever been downloaded to the PC. Maybe that's because we had another Kodak Easyshare camera previously, connected to the PC. Also, I have been told that when I try to attach a photo to an e mail, the recipient has to go to the Kodak site to view ... ...and connects you to the Kodak website, which wants to store all your photos. I'm not terribly keen on this, do not really want my pictures stored anywhere other than on my PC. It also tries to take over every time I want to open a photo that I have been sent - have managed to get around that one, but you have to be quite knowledgeable about how you PC works in order to prevent it happening - well, more knowledgeable than me anyhow! ...

For a simple but effective Christmas present, I have designed a calender using my photos on the Kodak software and order it online! A few days later, it'll arrive in the post! On the Easyshare v610 I have, it has up to 6.1 megapixel and 10x optical zoom which is incredible for its size. The functions are quite easy, although I have only bothered with the basics as I am no master at photography! The 'basics' include changing the scene setting (there are 22: portrait, Panorama left - right, ...

Quick review of Kodak EASYSHARE V610 Dual Lens
I recently bought one of these and was impressed straight away by how it looks. After using the camera for a few months, I would advise this camera to anyone who goes out alot and wants pictures with there mates. Even without a steady hand you always get sharpe nice pictures. The 10x zoom or 40x zoom if you use the digital zoom is really good, although to get sharpe pics with this its best to use a tripod or rest the camera on a flat surface. The bluetooth feature is very handy, to send you friends pics straight away.
Overall a well built stylish camera suitable for anyone from a clubber to some-one keen on photography. ...
