I bought this scanner as I was keen to be able to produce high resolution images from my APS film cartridges. I was attracted by the price of only £100 and the fact that the manufacturer was Kodak.

Initially you could only scan one picture at a time, by selecting from thumbnails, but then Kodak made some quick scanning software available, which would batch scan a whole film cartridge. The only problem here is that the scanner overheats after scanning about 10 images at maximum resolution.

I encountered further problems on moving the scanner from Windows 95 to Windows 98, with the system blue screening on startup. The advice from the Kodak web site was to ensure that the scanner was either not switched on or disconnected by a switch, while the computer booted.

I have now been informed by Kodak that they have no intention of releasing drivers for Windows ME, NT or 2000. So, unless you're happy to stick with Windows 95 and only scan the occasional image, I would not recommend this product.
