We bought this toy 'The world's best dog toy' because if we leave our dog Hazel for any amount of time, sometimes just half an hour, she chews and chews on our settee! Our veterinary nurse... more

Advantages Advantages Millions of uses (well, maybe not millions but quite a few)

Disadvantages Disadvantages When dropped on foot, it hurts.

***** Kong Rules ***** There are many varieties of kong toys out there but this version is the traditional stuff it, throw it, chew it, tread on it and break an ankle edition. These classic kongs are also available in cat, bird, ferret and fish varieties - indeed the kong brochure shows a tiger playing with one - now if that's not an advert for durability then I don't know what is. ***** The Product ***** The classic kong is a cone shaped blob of rubber - sounds attractive and slightly phallic, doesn't it? There are versions that include ropes and flotation devices but if you could be arsed ... more

4 Stars Long live the Kong! Review with images 06/05/2011
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Quality durable pet toy that can provide diversion and potentially help with a range of problems

Disadvantages Disadvantages Smaller items can fall out. Can be messy. Not indestructible

Since giving the ‘Kong Stuff-A-Ball’ dog toy a generally positive review recently, we decided it was time to try one of the original products in this range: the Kong Classic that’s claimed to be ‘The World’s Best Dog Toy’. This may be arguable but I can see now why it’s acquired such a reputation. No product is perfect but this one has been on the market for over 30 years and there have been plenty of favourable reviews. I don’t propose to replicate these here, but most of what we found with the ‘Stuff-A-Ball’ also applies to the Classic. It just seems that little bit more durable, which is no ... more

Advantages Advantages Durable, versatile, excellent value for money, and really great fun!

Disadvantages Disadvantages Might hurt a little if a mere human stands in the path of the mighty Kong!

In October 2004 I got my first dog - a mixed breed puppy, who I named Scamp. Like any responsible pet owner, I'd done extensive research before bringing him home and, time and time again, had heard 'Kongs' raved about. Eager to find out what all the fuss was about (it's just a dog toy, right?), I took the plunge and purchased a medium sized classic Kong. As far as dog toys go, these are pretty pricey - anywhere up to £13.99, depending upon size, strength and design. The one that I got - the classic design - was red, and like a round, cone shape that was hollow in the middle. It's difficult to ... more

    5 Stars King Kong!! 19/12/2006
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages Very hardy, can be used as treat and a toy!

    Disadvantages Disadvantages A little expensive

In 2004 I got my first puppy, Marley. With him being a Border collie, I was slightly worried that he may get bored and begin to chew the house! My Mum and Dad advised for me get a Kong. Having never heard of this before, I decided to do some research. I found out that a Kong is basically a dog toy made of hard rubber that you can fill with different treats; your dog then spends hours trying to dig the treats out from inside the Kong. THE KONG The Kong is meant to be nearly indestructible so is perfect for dogs that have a tendency to chew. Kongs come in all different shapes and sizes, you can ... more

Advantages Advantages entertaining, strong, high quality, fun, many benefits to dog and behaviour

Disadvantages Disadvantages can hurt if it lands on your foot!!!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ The KONG. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ After nearly two years of not having a dog we decided that we couldn't cope anymore without one and went on a hunt for a suitable puppy. We ended up with a 9 week old Labrador cross Border Collie pup who we named Bonnie. Once we brought her home we had several visits from friends and family, three of which (individually of each other) recommended that we got a KONG for Bonnie as they had found them brilliant. So the following day I went to our nearest big pets store and ended up spending £40 on dog toy!!! £5 of that was spent on a KONG ... more
