Advantages doesn't fall apart, can be stuffed with treats, bounces

Disadvantages None

I've got a beautiful border collie, Jess. She's nearly 1 now, and as an active dog, she gets bored very easily so I'm always on the lookout for new toys and chews for her to keep her occupied in the house.

I do love Jess dearly, but I can't believe how destructive she can be. She's always been a good dog in the house, never chewing anything except for my kitchen blinds, which are now half the size they used to be! I've bought her toys in the past, that within two days are nothing but shrapnel covering my garden, including rubber balls, fluffy toys and tug toys, so I thought about indestructable toys. I got her a few that claim to be indestructable, but even those, she destroyed within a few days.

I heard about Kong toys through a friend, and looked online for them. They sell them brand new on Ebay and the more I read, the better they sounded so I thought I'd give one a try.

They come in different sizes,
small - for Chihuahua's and similar size breeds.
medium - for beagles and westie sizes.
Large - suitable for cocker spaniel sized dogs.
X-Large - for labrador/collie size breeds.
XX-Large - for the real beasts like Dobermans and german shepherds.

I got Jess the X-large, going on the size recomendation on the site. It's 13cm tall, so she can lug it around and have a good play with it.

I don't quite know how to describe this toy. It's a thick rubber consistency in a bright red colour, making it nice and easy to spot in the garden. It's a bizzare shape, rounded with bumps going from small to larger. It has a small hole in the top and a bigger hole in the bottom so you can squeeze treats into it, which makes it smell yummy for your dog and rattle, which gets Jess's attention immediately.

Because of the rubber consistency, you can bounce this off the floor when you're playing with your pooch and the rounded shape of it makes it bounce in all directions, great fun for your dog.

Jess loved it when I got it for her. I squeezed in two Markee treets for her and threw it in the garden. She played around with it for a bit, then lay down with it between her paws, where most of her toys have met their fate, and began chobbling on it. This is the point where I thought I'd probably see it in pieces in the garden within a few hours. After a couple of hours, I picked the toy up to inspect it, still in one piece with a couple of bite marks on it, but other than that it looked new still!

Jess has had this Kong toy now for 3 weeks, she still loves chobbling on it, and I think she's still teething so this toy offers some relief for that. I play with it as though it's a ball, throwing it for her and she plays with it on her own, knocking it around the garden and chewing it, and except for the excessive amount of slobber, it looks the same as when I bought it.

It cost me £11, which is pricey for a dog toy, but it's saved me money in the long run from buying toys to replace the ones she has destroyed and she loves it, so it was worth every penny.

Kong also offer other dog toys, including strong tennis balls and frisbees, so I think I'm going to try out some of these in the near future. I won't bother with other brands now, because I know these are great quality for the money and won't end up in the bin after a few days.

I can't recommend this product enough, Jess loves it and it is what it says, "indestructable".

I've never bought these but I usually have small dogs & associate Kong with bigger breeds.
