This camera has been easy to use, simple Controls, and there are a few reasonably advanced features combined with an extremely compact design. ... ...light to carrying around.
The lens has no extending barrel, Zoom is adjusted internally, and keeps the camera slim at all times, It has 3X optical magnification and is boosted by a further 2X digital function to provide a total of 6X zoom, Extreme close-ups turn out great, the Macro mode lets you gets as close as 25cm to your abject at any focal length.

This camera has been easy to use, simple Controls, and there are a few reasonably advanced features combined with an extremely compact design. It pretty much fits in any pocket and is very light to carrying around.
The lens has no extending barrel, Zoom is adjusted internally, and keeps the camera slim at all times, It has 3X optical magnification and is boosted by a further 2X digital function to provide a total of 6X zoom, Extreme close-ups turn out great, the Macro mode lets you gets as close as 25cm to your abject at any focal length.
The built-in flash has a few different flash modes... Autoflash - flashes in low-light conditions, Red-eye reduction - multiple bursts before main flash (very painful if you have sensitive eyes like me, may take away my red-eye but my face is always twisted and screwed up), Fill-flash - flash is always on, and Flash-Off.
Images are stored on SD memory cards and can be quickly transferred to your PC via the USB interface which is supplied, or viewed on TV using the AV output terminal which you need to purchase else where.The LCD screen displays all the functions you are currently using which is quite handy if you've set it up for a one of take, it reminds you to reset the options. The options menus are very easy to navigate, there all pretty self explanatory and the manual helps clear things up which can also be accessed online.
The Minolta lets you record a max 35 second movie clip with audio which is a bit of a pain because this option is not changeable regardless of how big your SD card is, however you can record as many 35 second clips as your card can hold, I suppose this is due to the internal memory of the camera as it doesn't write directly to the SD card but after the 35 seconds it then saves the footage, you can also record up to 90 seconds of audio only, as well as up to 15 sec of voice memos right after you take each shot automatically.
Although this is a satisfactory camera, it does need a extremely steady hand to get clear images which I don't have but I do have a tripod to get the images clear, The battery life is poor it takes a specific brand a NP-200 rechargeable battery which doesn't last long with the LCD screen on and using flash with the highest picture quality only about 5 pictures can be taken but by adjusting the settings and using the flash and lcd screen only when necessary you can get a good 20 to 30 pictures on a 128mb card, it just takes a bit of experimenting with. Using high quality picture settings takes a few seconds for the image to save and even longer when switching to view the saved images also applies to having a lot of pictures stored, quite annoying since the battery life is so short. I wouldn't recommend this camera, some mobile phones have just as good if not better cameras built in nowadays, It would probably be better if you get at least a 5 megapixel camera or greater.
Advantages: Super easy to use, light and portable and a great first digital camera for all Disadvantages: The software is unsatisfactory, and the SD card included is far from what it could be
This camera is perhaps one of the most user-friendly cameras that I have encountered. It avoids the trap of many other digital cameras, with only a few buttons which are multifunctional, as opposed to lots of one-use buttons. This combines with the easy navigation of the camera menus to make the DiMAGE very easy to use. The LCD display is also impressive. The refresh rate is much faster than on other digital camaeras. As a result, it maintains a ... ...it is only visible face on, with a very small angle view. Moreover, fingerprints greatly affects the view and, although I haven't damaged the screen yet, it is prone to damage, especially from excess pressure on the screen.
Other features help to make this camaera an all round good buy. The quick start up time, literally 1 second, means that you don't miss any photo opportunities. The zoom is fantastic too. A well as boasting impressive optical ...

As an active rock climber wanting to record my experiences as I was climbing, I was looking for a compact camera without a protruding lens and as high a pixel count as possible. I narrowed the field down to Konica's own X60 due to its fast start-up times, but on looking at Konica's web site was seduced by the features and massive pixel count of the new X1.
I bought the camera online for a very reasonable £179 and waited eagerly for it to arrive. Four days later on receiving the camera I was immediately struck by its simple design beauty - much like an Ipod - "less is more". It arrived in an attractive anodised red finish (silver and black also available) and I started playing straight away.
I do have a couple of gripes with this camera. Firstly it is quite slippy to hold with no features on the anodised body to add purchase ...

it was late last year when we got his camera KonicaMinolta Dimage x1 from my sister in law from the States. When i saw this camera i fell inlove with it because of it's style and color. It looks so sophisticated and very handy especially to people like us who likes to take pictures everytime there's something interesting. It is very easy to use with it's anti shake features which helps me a lot. It makes my shots clearer and not blurred. Also it has an SD memory card which makes me save a lot of the pictures and not worrying that it might get full anytime. On the other hand, i have tried to use it at night and have compared the quality of the picture that were taken in the morning. And to my dismay, it was not that good. In developing the DiMAGE X, step one involved size. What size would make it most comfortable to carry around? The goal was set at 2 cm or less - about the size of a portable MD player, and small enough for a shirt pocket. Lightness was also a priority; it had to be lighter than all other comparable cameras. Enhancing a 2-megapixel CCD with Minolta optics and image processing technology would offer great results with print applications. Postcard-size prints could be made at photo-quality level, and images could be enlarged to roughly A4-size (27.1 x 20.3 cm) and still satisfy. Zoom was next up on the agenda. The DiMAGE X needed to give you the option to take clear, high-quality close-ups in various situations. Minolta solution called for 3X optical magnification using an innovative lens, boosted by a 2X digital function to provide seamless 6X zoom. Last but not least, quick response was essential. Ideally, the camera could be ready at a moment's notice. Just press ON, and capture your first shot in approx. 1.8 seconds. So, did the DiMAGE X manage to meet all these specifications? Certainly. The DiMAGE X lets you record a (max.) 35-second movie clip with audio, or up to 90 seconds of audio only. What's more, there is a function for automatically recording voice memos (up to 15 sec. long) right after you take each shot, and you can also add audio captions to still images later on. The DiMAGE X includes a high-performance Minolta lens that is so refined it can even be used with 3-megapixel cameras. The lens is composed of 9 elements in 8 groups, and has a total of 5 aspherical surfaces for reduced chromatic aberration. Aperture settings range from F2.8 to F3.6 to ensure bright image capture at various magnifications.
